Master of None (Netflix Original Series)

This show just came out last week and it's hilarious. It's a comedy starring Aziz Ansari (Parks & Rec) as a struggling New York actor with an ensemble cast of hilarious actors around him.

I'm only halfway through the 10 episodes in the first season and I'm hooked. Definitely check it out.

Heard good things and checked it out last night. The episode about having kids, the first one. He does a good job approaching real issues from a comedic standpoint.

It got really weird when the one husband and wife Aziz sees in the toy store (funny scene btw) have the same names as me and my wife. We don't have a kid and his name isn't Loshin or whatever the hell it was though. Oh and I'm white. LOL

I like Aziz but he can get a bit whiny. Like his voice. It can be grating. But he's a funny dude, probably one of my favorite comedians out there now.

Love this show. Thought the Parents episode was amazing. Lots of stuff I could relate to.

Finished it last week, for a first season it was incredible. It's not Arrested Development funny, more of a reserved funny, understated is a good way to put it. I like how they address real, day to day struggles and issues rather than focus on putting the main characters in wonky situations.

With that said, I disliked the season finale ending because now they either have two options: build an entire new cast of characters in season two, or skip it all together and "fast forward" in time for his return. Either way, I think you save that bomb for season three or later, once you really flesh out your main characters all you can.

Related, Aziz wrote a piece about his father taking off for filming and it's so real:

My dad took off most of his vacation time for the year to act in Master of None. So I’m really relieved this all worked out. Tonight after we did Colbert together he said: “This is all fun and I liked acting in the show, but I really just did it so I could spend more time with you.”

I watched through Hot Ticket last night. The parents episode was great and Aziz's dad was hilarious. So far I'm really enjoying it, but I guess that's not surprising considering I enjoy his stand-up and the material shares the same basis on social commentary.

Indians on TV and Parents are the highlights so far for me. Denise calling out Oprah and Beyonce had me.

Just started it and got to Parents. I'm so happy to finally to see Asian Americans finally getting some stuff out there, this episode hit so close to home. It was almost like I'm watching my familes story.

Just today my dad was asking help with his new phone and transfering contacts. I was being a bitch like Aziz and said I'm busy and I'll do it later.

I feel its like the universe brought to watch this episode to tell me stop being such a dick and appreciate what your parents have done to get you here.

Re: Master of None (Netflix Original Series)

I finished up the season last night. I really liked Mornings and how it showed the progression/regression of a long-term relationship. Whereas Nashville felt like an ode to rom-coms Mornings felt more in line with the tone of the overall series being more honest and down-to-earth about a common situation.

The Finale itself felt off the whole time. The drama felt manipulated in order to come up with some tension which felt against the tone of the rest of the series. The topic itself was good and the insight was, like the rest of the series, very intuitive, but the whole episode felt like I was watching a different show.

The fake-out at the end was great, though.

His imagination of a wedding ceremony for him and Rachel was hilarious, but yeah, I didn't love the Finale episode. Very excited to see a season 2 though.

Ha, same here, man. My mom needed help on her computer - and dad starts calling me IT guy go figure.

Really enjoyed this show. It had a good mix of comedy and drama with it. Excited to see how season 2 goes!

Season Finale had a very How I Met Your Mother and Ted Moseby vibe goin'.

I liked this short first season. I hope it's popular.. Netflix seems to really be backing some winners.

Ha, yes. Now that you mention it the scene where he's randomly talking to the airplane passenger beside him is a total HIMYM gag.
