    24: Legacy- Reboot Coming

    WITH NO JACK BAUER

    http://kotaku.com/fox-is-rebooting-2...ium=Socialflow

    Original article: http://www.ew.com/article/2016/01/15/24-pilot-new

Fox announced today that they plan to launch a reboot of 24 without Jack Bauer, which is sort of like Konami making Metal Gear Solid without Hideo Kojima. It’s just not going to work.

The new series is called 24: Legacy, as EW reports. It’ll star someone named “Eric Carter”—lmao—and they’re looking for a totally new cast to replace Jack, Chloe, and all the other moles who have circulated through 24 over the last glorious decade. Instead of bringing Jack back for more time-defying escapades—or even getting the stellar Yvonne Strahovski to return in her iconic role as Lady Jack from 24: Live Another Day—they’re just rolling the dice on a totally new cast of characters.

“There’s also a female co-lead who is a former head of CTU,” said Fox Television Chairman and CEO Dana Walden at the Television Critics Association in Pasadena on Friday. “It doesn’t feel like it is fully replicating the original in terms of how much Jack Bauer carried by himself, but it’s a very prominently featured lead.”

Walden also revealed to reporters there will be a time jump in the show’s storyline and that Legacy will deal with sleeper cells radicalizing Americans.

“It’s a new CTU, a new cast of characters,” she said. “It’s a completely different story in terms of the special ops groups that we’re focusing on. It’s a very contemporary feeling story about the potential to activate new sleeper cells in the United States and radicalizing Americans.

It’s a whole new story. There are nods in the pilot to prior CTU agents, there are a couple photos that will feel reminiscent of the original, but no ongoing [returning] characters.”

It's hard as hell seeing Keifer Sutherland in anything now and not seeing him as Jack Bauer so I just can't imagine seeing a 24 show and not thinking it needs Jack Bauer.. Guess we'll see how it goes

I honestly would have been fine if they continued with Kate Morgan from Live Another Day. At the very least, it would have had a redeeming quality by being in the same universe.

EDIT: Nevermind, they said "prior CTU agents," so I guess it's still the same universe but some time has past and regimes have changed hands for sure.

Am I the only one dying laughing that 23 started a thread about a 24 reboot.

I could see him doing something similar but not the same old super agent gets betrayed by his co workers and country several times.

Definitely in another agent role though.. wasn't he on the Sheild?

Kiefer took the role of Snake, so its only fair for David Hayter to be the new Jack Bauer.

I'll watch it for sure. It may end up being a well written and acted show, but I don't think that that will matter in the end. IMO, the fan outrage because of the lack of familiar faces will doom the show regardless of the quality.

Having 24 back in any capacity is a must watch for me. And Keifer in Designated Survivor...I'm in tv heaven.

Of course though I'll give this a shot and hope it's good.

I loved 24 so much, I'd definitely give it a shot. If the show is still the same world that Jack operated in, they absolutely have to have a special episode to extract Bauer from the Russians. I don't want to learn Jack's fate from a side-comment or something like that. I could even live with it in Zero Dark Thirty style where the operation is dark so you can't make out Bauer if they can't get Sutherland back for one episode, but they gotta do something about the him and the Russians.

Probably should be how they start it off...but its a reboot.

If it's a reboot I don't want Jack mentioned at all.

I know the odds of him and the others ever coming back are as slim as the odds we had to win the Powerball the other night but I'd rather they not shut the door on him just to do it because as mentioned above if they are going to end it with him they need to do it the right way.
