6.5 or 7 out of 10. I don't think I have ever checked my watch that many times in a theater anticipating the end. It wasn't terrible but it felt like it really dragged after the 1st hour..EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure. -
Re: Star Wars Episode VIII - The Last Jedi

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII - The Last Jedi
1. ROTJ- I know most people don't have it this high but I think the reason I love it so much is that I don't have a problem with the ewoks like most people and I love how we get more with the emperor and the emotion of ever thing with Vader. Also love the speed bike chase stuff.
2. TFA- Love the new characters and the movie didn't fell like a remake or to much of the same thing to me like how some people complain about. This is also the star wars movie that saved the franchise for me and brought back my love for the franchise. Having hated episodes 1 and 2 from day 1 even though I was only 10 and 13 when those came out and having liked 3 but not loved it had I not liked this movie I would have been done with star wars at that point in time.
3. TLJ- The first half pacing wise fells to slow compared to TFA but felt better the 2nd time I watched the movie. I didn't have a big problem with the humor like some people did how ever TFA handled humor better then any star wars movie yet and I missed not having Rey and Finn together in this movie has they where together more in TFA and they have so much chemistry. How ever even with that said there are just to many great moments for this to not be a great movie and I love love what they are doing with Kylo.
4. ESB- Took ever thing great about the first star wars and made it much better and the dark vader I am your father twist was so great what else needs to be said about that moment. Seeing Yoda for the first time was always great to.
5. NH- First 4 movies on this least I considered great and I love. This one I like a lot but don't love. It has not aged has while has the other 2 OT movies and being that it was the first star wars movie ever and had to introduce characters the movie is kind of slow compared to the other 2 OT movies.
6. ROTS- Good but far from great by far the best of the PT but the other 2 suck so yeah. The movie still has some bad acting and chessny moments like the other 2 PT movies but not has much and not has often.
7. RO- Slightly below ROTS for me but this has got to be the most overrated star wars movie has a lot of people have it in there like top 3 star wars movies and to me that is a joke. The movie I like over all but way to many slow moments compared to me top 4 and the characters I don't care for at all they are just like there.
8. AOTC- Movie sucks bad acting to much romance and way to much CGI. Only good part of the movie is music and the Yoda fight.
9. TPM- Just like AOTC I try to forget this movie even happened. AOTC and TPM are just terable movies that I don't need to watch ever again even though I have only seen them like 3 times in my life. Only good thing about this movie is the music that is it. AOTC I put slightly above this for the Yoda fight. How ever the Yoda fight in ROTS was much better and that movie over all is much better.Comment

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII - The Last Jedi
AOTC above TFA and TLJ lol that is funny. Also why do people love RO so much? I don't get that one. The music is so lame compared to the other movies with out Williams doing the music in that one and the characters are just there.Comment

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII - The Last Jedi
That being said, I don't remember anything about Rogue One's score. It could be really bad, I have no idea. Even films with bad scores can be good, though.
And then some films are heavy character studies while some explore only plot. Rogue One may be completely plot-driven (and I mean let's face it, they were supposed to be one-and-done characters anyway), while a recent film I saw called Good Time is completely character-driven. Some films can be both, like The Departed for example. Some films can be neither, like V/H/S. All of them can still be good.
For me, R.O. doesn't pick up until the final act. I liked K2SO though, and Felicity Jones is easy on the eyes.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII - The Last Jedi
I'll be the first to say that John Williams' scores are overrated for this day and age. The composer himself is not overrated, but people look too much to the past. Even the "Long time ago" stuff in the beginning... too vintage, man. I know I'll get blasted for that, but it's time to adapt.

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII - The Last Jedi
I know I am in a very tiny minority, but I grew up with the Original trilogy, and I actually enjoy the Prequels. The objections to Ep 1-3 are all valid....in fact I agree with most complaints. Definitely some cringy lines/scenes, too much Jar Jar etc. But I have always been able to but that aside and enjoy other elements.
I spent 22 years of my life wondering about that history "Before the Dark Times" that Obi-Wan described in ANH.....A Republic with Jedi Knights as the guardians of peace. And then the Clone Wars. For me, the Prequels finally brought these things to life, so I enjoyed scenes like the senate hall (that most view as boring). It was cool to see the Jedi Council and watch how Palpatine over the course of 3 films was able manipulate his way from a small time Senator to Emperor. I liked the arena scene when all the Jedi arrive and break out their light sabres, and then when the Clone Wars break out after that.
And I also really liked individual characters/actors, locations & concepts. Off the top of my head: Mace Windu, Jango Fett, Qui-Gon, Kamino, Pod Racing, Greivous, Maul, Double Bladed Light Sabre......etc. Plenty to enjoy between awkward Anakin moments.Comment

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII - The Last Jedi
As for RO, I enjoyed it because it felt like it had the spirit of the original trilogy without feeling like a remix of them. The ending was unexpected, but made sense. The movie never felt boring to me.
TFA on the other hand felt like ANH remixed. Way too many plot points that felt like they were ripped straight out of ANH.
TLJ is still pretty fresh, and maybe I'll feel a little different about it as time goes on, but there were lots of things that didn't make any sense, way more than in any of the prior movies. I understand the need to move on from the original characters, but this movie pretty much threw Luke's character into the dumpster, set it one fire, and then Rian and company sat around laughing while it burned.Comment
