So, yes, the remake of one of the most iconic Western flicks of all time has finally been done. Star value wise this doesn't pack the same punch as that line-up of Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Robert Vaughn and James Coburn w/ Eli Wallach as the baddie. But then again, there was something at times to be desired with the story telling in the original despite how endearing it has become and, of course, how engaging the theme song is...

So it seems like with Denzel, Pratt and D'Onofrio carrying the billing, the writing and screenplay will be largely important to make this one a success. Ethan Hawke can be a real hit or miss, so we'll see if he enhances it or drags it down. Matt Bomer from White Collar also seems to be one of the good guys and can be appealing. Peter Sarsgaard (Black Mass / Jarhead) might bring his gritty-twisted mystique to the project as well. The trailer definitely shows it as having some promise.

Next up? The Dirty Dozen? I would welcome a legit attempt at it.
