Yep I'm getting $40 off or so, 1 year deal. I've had them for a long time and will keep them, but will call again after the 1 year.

I guess I got a "can-do" customer service rep because I told him what we were planning on switching to and how much it was going to be.

That's when he came back with the $40 credit per month.

And I'd still be paying $35 more a month with DirecTV if I went with that. You're still in a contract in year 2 when you start losing discounts. You won't get that reduced much until the end of year 2 when you can go back to the cancel threat.

There was just no way I'd come out even with them, not without significantly lowering the package I had down to the bare minimum. Why spend more at all when I'm getting everything I need now? I'm surprised how smooth the transition has been because MLB.tv tends to have its hiccups at times. The only negative with Vue is not being able to extend "DVR" times but that really only affects WWE and these days, missing the last few minutes is nothing.

Wait, how do you use a dvr with PS Vue?

If I remember right, any show you move to My Shows is automatically recorded and saved for 28 days.

Apart from NBA League Pass we have all the channels we could ever want and the equivalent Vue package is about the same as what DTV offered me.

My contract is the same length as the credit. I can threaten to switch this time next year and see if they repeat the process.

What the hell man...I never even heard of Playstation Vue. Is it streaming? Cause I heard really bad things from users of Sling TV when they were trying to watch the NBA Playoffs. Is it better than Sling?

Might have to cop a PS4 now...I don't believe there's an Xbox version of this?

You don't need a PlayStation to get Vue. It's on Roku, Amazon, etc and yes it's streaming

Which channel lineup do you have? I'm getting the Choice lineup ($74.99/month just for that package) plus the 1 mini portable genie for $69/month. All you ever gotta do is threaten to cancel and they'll almost always give you an offer you can't refuse. They also threw in NFL Sunday Ticket for free. So I'm getting $31 off the $74.99 package for the first 12 months and I think it drops down to only $5 off for Year 2, but that's just when I'm gonna threaten to cancel again.

We have the Choice. I'll probably bump up to NBA League Pass in the Fall for basketball, but most of the year we don't watch much TV that isn't on Netflix or Prime.

Same, I pretty much keep it because I haven't bought an antenna and I want to be able to watch NBA and NFL games. Sports is literally my only reason for it and when I look at it that way, it's so much money considering I don't use it many months out of the year. But better than paying their full price for it.

This is a bit strange but let's say you don't have cable at all and just have an antenna for the local channels. Is it possible to buy your own DVR so it will record the local channels you have with the antenna?

Yes, used to be a lot of options, but not as many now. TiVo and a few other options out there.

Yeah I saw the TiVo Roamio. Does exactly what I want and no fee. My wife has to have her Ellen and PS Vue doesn't have CBS in my area
