 Re: Stranger Things

It's a Netflix "series", although it plays out like watching an 8-hour movie (8 1-hr episodes). It's a suspense/horror/thriller/sci-fi set in 1983...and it's amazing."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

 Re: Stranger Things

Has shades of a lot of 80's films. ET, Goonies, Aliens, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc..

I would say more in the middle of them. Not as scary as Alien/Aliens, but not as tame as ET either.

 Re: Stranger Things

Just finished this last night. Loved every hour of it and thought all the actors, especially the kids, were amazing. Eleven really stood out for me, with Dustin coming in second. I gotta mention the music, since it was just SUPERB. The cover of "Heroes" at the end of the third episode really brought all these emotions out.Comment

 Re: Stranger Things

I just re-watched the season last night. I am typically pretty "nit-picky" with this stuff and even I really can't find too many things to criticize. I maybe have 4 things I can say are "gripes" and they are all very minor."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

 Re: Stranger Things

Got my wife hooked on this. I have to say I enjoyed re-watching the first couple of episodes myself. My nitpicky thing was putting a clip of Jefferson Airplane's Go Ask Alice in at an intense point.

Really like the guy who played the sheriff. Would like to see some of his other stuff.

Addendum: People had mentioned in the Netflix thread the throwback/tribute to some particular things. I don't think this one was mentioned:

SpoilerI'm guessing the Duffer Bros. were also paying tribute to the 1950's version of The Thing when showing the monster trapped and set on fire in an effort to kill it. Possibility.
