Re: Marvel's Luke Cage
I finished up the season last night. Everything really takes off after episode 7 and just keeps going with a full head of steam. I really liked how they handled the characters and managed to flesh everyone out in interesting ways.
Great first season. I think it is a big improvement on Daredevil's start and I might be inclined to say I prefer it to Daredevil S2. I just really dig the everything about the show.
My minor complaint would be there's no time to decompress from the resolutions of season 1 before moving straight into season 2 story lines.

Re: Marvel's Luke Cage
Finished last night. These Marvel Netflix shows really blow me away. I despise superhero shows/movies but something about all of these series have hooked me big time. The music/culture involved in this season was all beautifully done.
For me, this is just slightly behind Jessica Jones. I think I preferred Jessica Jones solely because of David Tennant AKA Kilgrave. He was just incredible in that season.
Having said that, I'm a big fan of Mahershala Ali; loved seeing him as Cottonmouth. As someone else mentioned, that laugh of his is just perfect. Just to be safe, I'll spoiler this one additional note about him.SpoilerOne of my favorite parts of this season was watching Cottonmouth slowly come unraveled/become completely consumed by the idea of getting his revenge on Cage.
A couple other notes:
SpoilerThis show almost felt like a theatrical play to me. I could easily envision the scene where Mariah kills Cottonmouth ending with an intermission for the crowd and then you'd come back for what's basically the rise of Mariah down the stretch.
Shades is a ****ing boss. They did a much better job casting the secondary characters for this show than the other Marvel series IMO.
I don't really like Rosario Dawson all that much, but I do like how they've basically used her to tie all the characters together.
One more spoiler about the series moving forwards/my limited knowledge of the comic books:
SpoilerDoes the romance at the end mean that they probably aren't going to end up having Cage and Jessica Jones end up together? I'm having a tough time getting a read on that.
Anyways, another great season in the Marvel Netflix series. Can't wait for Defenders/Iron Fist/Jessica Jones season 2.NFL: Bills
NBA: Bucks
MLB: Cubs
NCAA: Syracuse
Soccer: USMNT/DC United

Re: Marvel's Luke Cage
Just finished it as well. Thought the same as a few guys in here, that it started a little slow and then picked up steam. Midseason it was full steam ahead. There were definitely certain things in this show that I absolutely loved. The music and cameos were on point. The Meth cameo was one of my favorite TV moments, had me cheesing the whole time like a little kid.

Re: Marvel's Luke Cage
Loved the series & character build up. Luke Cage might've started slow, and his character might've been a little slow to get going but that's his persona - a man trying to live a normal life and stay out of harm's way. You see Pops' message slowly get to him as of why he's not out there making a difference with his "gifts".
They could've did a slightly better job with Cottonmouth, loved his character, but they killed him off too soon IMHO. Guess it was to have "Black" Mariah's character grow.
Was hoping Shades had some sort of super-power/inhuman element to him, especially with his background at Seaside. Huge fan of "Juice"!
Interesting twist w/Diamondback. His origin differs from the Comic book, but am curious to see their backstory and how he was "left for dead" by Luke Cage. Wasn't a fan of his costume in the end, had a lot to do with his helmet lol
Misty Knight/Simone Missick is GORGEOUS! Wow. She literally stole every single scene she was in. They teased her losing her arm a bit, wonder if they'll go down that route??
Few notes/questions going into S2/Defenders:
Colleen Wing easter egg in the end. Anyone catch that?
With Luke going back to Seagate, will he run into Comanche?
Claire Temple knows a "good lawyer" that can help Luke
Diamondback is going to get a major upgrade the next time he is shown
Heroes for hire?
Daughters of the Dragon?
FIGHT ON!

It did feel like Marvel meets The Wire with old 70s Blaxploitation films thrown in.Comment
