    Re: Cord cutting

I wanted to cord cut, but it doesn't seem to be any money saving in my opinion, I pay $170 a month with fios, I have extreme TV package with a GB speed.

If I cord cut and go with VUE or youtube TV, plus still pay for my GB speed the price still remains the same.

How fast is some of your internet speed a month and who do you ISP prover, how much are you paying?

I got a letter today that my triple play bundle with Spectrum is about to end ($120 for phone, 100 mbps/internet, tv).

Internet standard price is $65 with Spectrum and I'm certain they aren't going to offer any other promotions to me for TV so I'm going to axe everything but internet. I MUST have MLB Network so I think I'm going to try YouTube TV as it gives me local channels and then a good mix of everything else.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

For gb internet i think comcast and att are offering as low as $70 a month just depends on how close competition is.
Kenny: Ok Vic, I'm ready for some girl on girl action.
Vic: No Kenny, that's girl versus girl.
        Kenny: What's the difference?
Vic: Well, in one, one girl wins. In the other....
        Kenny: Everyone wins?!?!

do you have any elderly or kids in your household?
I think spectrum is going to offer 25mbps internet for $25 a month if you do.

That would be plenty fast enough.
I currently run psvue on my wireless isp provider which runs anywhere from 2mbps to 15mbps.

I get 150 mbps from Comcast for $70. If I were to bundle TV with it, including 2 HD DVR boxes, I would be paying $190/month after the 1st year. I pay $110/month now with comcast internet and Vue.

Okay, I am moving in a few weeks. Had DTV for about 15 years, but when we moved here a few years ago our neighborhood doesn't allow dishes, so we moved to cable. It's been fine, but I'm paying just over $200/month for cable/internet/phone (landline).

As I'm looking to move, I looked at Youtube TV and it looks incredible, especially for the price. Unfortunately, it isn't available where I'm moving (Virginia). What other options are out there that are similar to Youtube TV? I would love to "cut the cord" per se...

Defintely check out Directv Now. They recently added free DVR service and you can pay an extra $5/mo for a 3rd stream. You'll also get a free Roku stick. Not sure if they still offer a free Apple Tv for paying 3 months up front.

Thanks...I did a lot of reading on all of the services this afternoon. I review I read on DirectTv Now that was from last month mentioned it's buggy and doesn't have a DVR. It sounds like they are already working things out...I like the channels they offer (MLB Network is a must) and the price is great.

Do you have a spouse or someone you can sign up as a "new customer" in your household? I've been switching off with my dad every 2 years and just pay the new customer price every time. Currently it's $40 for 100/100 mbps on fios + another $35 for youtube tv. Fios should still have the $80 Gbps deal going too.

Spectrum gives me a $20 discount for having it bundled with TV.

Has anybody tried YouTube TV? I'm curious how good the quality is and the FPS, especially when watching sports. I've heard good/bad about dropped frames and lower resolutions.

Also, how easy is it to navigate thru the channels? I have Spectrum with one box and DVR for $75/month (along with 100/mbps internet) that I'm thinking of dropping for a $40/month...no sense in paying $35 more a month for channels I don't watch and I like the fact it can be used on multiple TVs (with a chromecast, of course).

If you go PSVue and are able to hardwire or connect to a 5GHz Network you get an option for "Frame Smoothing" that makes it look better than Cable IMHO.
