That's precisely the reason I don't care about the Marvel movies anymore.
It's gone from a somewhat believable world to basically a cartoon.
Son of Zorn is more believable now.

Saying that, I'm pumped for Shazam and The Rock playing Black Adam.

You say you don't care about Marvel movies because they aren't realistic enough anymore and are like a cartoon, but you're excited about a DC movie featuring a kid who turns into a superhero just by saying the word Shazam, and his enemy who is an acient Egyptian demi-god that controls magical lightning.

So, any movies, etc. she has shined in? I looked at her IMDB list and wouldn't know what to watch from that list.

I liked her a lot in Creed, Dear White People and what she did in Westworld.

Tessa Thompon's character in Creed was written flawlessly, and she was an incredible asset in the film.

Based on critical reception through social media, I will give Thor: Ragnarok a shot at some point, but I can't guarantee it will be a theater viewing.

Good buddy of mine got to see it last night at a premiere in our country (Philippines). Says it's the best Thor solo film. Comes out in all theaters this coming Wednesday over here. Looking forward to it.

                          Re: Thor: Ragnarok

Just saw the movie; it's definitely the best Thor film by a long Bifrost mile! It's hilarious as everyone has said, Hemsworth in particular has probably given us his best performance of the character yet. The score, surprise surprise for a Marvel flick, is actually good and memorable! I absolutely loved the 80's synth vibe throughout.

My only real gripe is that I wish they didn't call this Ragnarok. Too many emotional moments are played for jokes, and for such a momentous event as Ragnarok, it sure as hell(a) doesn't feel like anything's at stake. Considering what's to come for the MCU, Ragnarok would've been a total game changer for Thor, and while things do change in the universe, it really doesn't feel like the character evolved because of how lightly the events were portrayed. It's also hard to believe Loki was the big bad in The Avengers after this movie.

8/10, but I hope we get a real Ragnarok someday.

Side-note: Tessa Thompson's accent made Valkyrie really really sexy (and badass). And Cate Blanchett was definitely having fun. That lady ages like fine fine fine wine.

I did not like this at all. Agreed 100% on forcing serious moments into jokey ones. I was looking over at my little brother every 3 minutes like "isn't this the corniest **** ever?" Just wow, as someone who generally doesn't mind the lighthearted take Marvel does on everything, this was just too much. I've not seen any of the Guardians movies all the way through but it felt closer to how I imagine those movies to feel, turned up to 11.

There's for sure some laughs to be had, but it felt like a comedy film, almost like a parody of a Marvel movie to me.
