Re: M:I 6 - Mission Impossible (July 27, 2018)
Though you will probably be entertained with Fallout regardless, it is highly recommended that you see Rogue Nation first. This is the first time that one feels like a direct sequel to another one of the films (and like I said, it has character attachments that importantly root as far back as the third film).
Both Rogue Nation and Ghost Protocol have been playing on FXM lately. If you have an On Demand service, it may be available until August 31st for you as it is for me. The Blu-ray is also $9.99 at Best Buy, which coincidentally is probably the best possible buy that can be had there! (I don't know if it comes with a ticket voucher or discount for Fallout)Last edited by Blzer; 08-06-2018, 12:22 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

I may just pick up Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation, as I already own the original trilogy. I've seen GP, just don't own it.Boston Red Sox

Fallout has a strong second weekend, staying at the #1 spot and showing only a 43% drop. Looks like it has nice legs.

Re: M:I 6 - Mission Impossible (July 27, 2018)
Moving you over to the movie's own thread, DHY.
Saw MI Fallout last night.
I should probably see it outside of the excitement of having just watched the whole series in a week, but I loved it. Continuing on with the same gang from what is already tied for my favorite in the series (Rogue Nation), they continue to up the stakes. Tom Cruise is a madman and I love him for it. Lane with the scruff looks like a completely different guy. Benji in the field was awesome. THEY GOT ME AGAIN WITH THE MASKS, HOW DO I KEEP FALLING FOR THIS?!?!? My little brother trying to figure out who was on whose side after they took off the masks might've been my favorite part of the experience lol. Superman, awesome in his role. I was wondering where Brandt/Hawkeye was. And I've got one question:Spoileris Alec Baldwin dead? If so, is Angela Bassett going to be the new Secretary? I'm very into that.
Now my rankings are looking like 1a. MI:3, 1b. MI:F (6), 1c. MI: RN (5), 2. MI:4, 3. MI:2, 4: MI:1.
Great movie. I think I loved it enough to read Blzer's 8 page thesis on it when I get the chance.
Your answer is in 1:37:21 on that podcast. To answer your question directly (and more my opinion of it):
Spoiler
Yes, they killed him off. They don't state whether what you speculated is true or not, at least I don't remember them saying it. They definitely could go that route, or possibly have Brandt (Renner) become the head if so. If you read my big set of impressions, I believe I mentioned there was an action scene that I didn't much care for, and it was that underground one.
For one, they kill him off. To have him as the crux behind everything that happens in Rogue Nation, and have him in this film entrust Hunt so much and even start to have fun with it after the mask reveal, I really didn't understand why he had to die. According to the SoundCloud though, Baldwin kind of asked for it. I don't know if he truly wanted out or something, but he wanted to go out "a hero" in a way, since I think he saves Hunt or somebody by getting entangled with Walker.
For another, I didn't really know what was going on. First our gang has the upper-hand working in collusion with Bassett's character, then she double-crosses them and wants to arrest them all because she's not sure who to trust yet, then (and this is the part I didn't get the first time) on Walker's "Go" apparently a large handful of them are working for him and they start by killing their own men. I was confused because I didn't know who was shooting t who or why, since it was dark and I was still trying to figure out why Bassett did what she was doing. I don't think it was one of their better action sequences anyway, but right after Hundley dies Ethan gets out of there immediately to start the foot chase, which was awesome.
I also don't know how Walker got so far away from the scene as to be walking the entire time to the helipad elevator when Ethan is sprinting forever, even though he had to go detour his route, going up staircases and jumping across rooftops and such.
Your rankings of the films somewhat mimic mine, but I have 2 on the bottom. As far as a film goes especially directly from an action standpoint, Fallout nearly hits all of the right notes and could be equally as good of a film as 3 and 5. I don't think it ranks up there as an M:I film quite as much, but I'm kind of hooked on the film right now too. I've already seen it twice in theaters, and I popped into a screening to watch twenty minutes of it on Saturday between seeing three other films heh. Also I just got the Blu-ray of A Quiet Place, and each time it starts off showing the Fallout trailer and I haven't skipped it the three times I've watched AQP (I even had to leave in between one of my viewings, so I think I've seen it four times just from that BD). It also appeared in front of Ready Player One when I rented that, so I didn't skip it then either. I avoided the trailer completely before seeing the film, so it's nice to watch it afterward. That Imagine Dragons track was perfect for the trailer!Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
