Though you will probably be entertained with Fallout regardless, it is highly recommended that you see Rogue Nation first. This is the first time that one feels like a direct sequel to another one of the films (and like I said, it has character attachments that importantly root as far back as the third film).

Both Rogue Nation and Ghost Protocol have been playing on FXM lately. If you have an On Demand service, it may be available until August 31st for you as it is for me. The Blu-ray is also $9.99 at Best Buy, which coincidentally is probably the best possible buy that can be had there! (I don't know if it comes with a ticket voucher or discount for Fallout)

I may just pick up Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation, as I already own the original trilogy. I've seen GP, just don't own it.

Then that's the best $19.98 (+ tax) you can buy!

Fallout has a strong second weekend, staying at the #1 spot and showing only a 43% drop. Looks like it has nice legs.

Moving you over to the movie's own thread, DHY.

I should probably see it outside of the excitement of having just watched the whole series in a week, but I loved it. Continuing on with the same gang from what is already tied for my favorite in the series (Rogue Nation), they continue to up the stakes. Tom Cruise is a madman and I love him for it. Lane with the scruff looks like a completely different guy. Benji in the field was awesome. THEY GOT ME AGAIN WITH THE MASKS, HOW DO I KEEP FALLING FOR THIS?!?!? My little brother trying to figure out who was on whose side after they took off the masks might've been my favorite part of the experience lol. Superman, awesome in his role. I was wondering where Brandt/Hawkeye was. And I've got one question:
              Spoiler
I think just because I made such a big deal out of the rock climbing in 2, when Hunt is hanging from the mountain I just immediately thought of that scene. And the end, without spoilers, basically being "We don't know if he did what he had to do but we actually do know he did what he had to do because he's Ethan Hunt" was perfect. It's long, but reminded me of Infinity War in that it felt exactly as long as it was, but I could've watched it for another hour.

              Now my rankings are looking like 1a. MI:3, 1b. MI:F (6), 1c. MI: RN (5), 2. MI:4, 3. MI:2, 4: MI:1.

Great movie. I think I loved it enough to read Blzer's 8 page thesis on it when I get the chance.
Regarding your spoiler, definitely check out that SoundCloud podcast if you can: https://soundcloud.com/empiremagazin...quarrie-part-1

Your answer is in 1:37:21 on that podcast. To answer your question directly (and more my opinion of it):

              Spoiler

Your rankings of the films somewhat mimic mine, but I have 2 on the bottom. As far as a film goes especially directly from an action standpoint, Fallout nearly hits all of the right notes and could be equally as good of a film as 3 and 5. I don't think it ranks up there as an M:I film quite as much, but I'm kind of hooked on the film right now too. I've already seen it twice in theaters, and I popped into a screening to watch twenty minutes of it on Saturday between seeing three other films heh. Also I just got the Blu-ray of A Quiet Place, and each time it starts off showing the Fallout trailer and I haven't skipped it the three times I've watched AQP (I even had to leave in between one of my viewings, so I think I've seen it four times just from that BD). It also appeared in front of Ready Player One when I rented that, so I didn't skip it then either. I avoided the trailer completely before seeing the film, so it's nice to watch it afterward. That Imagine Dragons track was perfect for the trailer!
