While I always want more episodes, I'm not sure longer seasons would be that useful for this show. I think diminishing returns would kick in and screw up the balance they seem to have. I like the short, BBC style, seasons.
We are still in the midst of a platinum age of TV, so shorter seasons means more stories. It's like wishing every book was 1000 pages. At some point, very few books are taking up a larger portion of our time. Same goes for TV.
When I think of 22 episode seasons, they tend to be more shallow than the short seasons of prestige TV, like Breaking Bad. When you have 6-12 episode seasons, I think it allows the writers and directors to focus in on making those episodes have more to say. The longer seasons have a several episodes that are mostly just going through the motions, to fill up the schedule.
The number of 20+ episode seasons of tV shows I watch has plummeted. So when something like Westworld ends, I may crave more, but instead I find myself diving into another cool story.
There is a ton of stuff coming up in late February and March. I'm okay with a show like Counterpart (10 episodes) running its course, and then moving on to those.
