    Re: Avengers: Infinity War

Apparently the speculation is an announcement of some kind is coming tomorrow. This was posted shortly after the date change announcement by Marvel’s VP & Creative Executive of New Media.

Take it with a grain of salt. Could be just saying something. Could be about that “FANTASTIC” wording they used. Could be a trailer coming tomorrow. We’ll see how it shakes out.

Seems like they will be making a "big" announcement tomorrow, possibly related to Infinity War.

Am I wrong to hope that it’s not X-Men or Fantastic Four related? I don’t need that announced by them, I want to be sitting in my seat watching this movie in the theater when a fireball smacks Thanos in the face and the camera cuts to the Human Torch flying onto the scene with the other members of the Four to the surprise of the Avengers. Or hear that ‘snikt’ off camera as Thanos gloats about slapping around Earth’s “best” before a little hairy Canadian jumps all over him. I’ll still go nuts about an announcement, don’t get me wrong. I just would rather speculate right up until the moment I see it in April.

There's one thing you all have to understand: Kevin Feige wasn't even made aware of Disney's acquisition of that Fox stuff until the announcement was made public. Feige has a plan in place that he intends not to break, and with films already in production it is unlikely that things jumped in that quickly.

Now, if things could be done hassle-free and without completely altering the course of the MCU, then there is always a possibility. However, Feige is intent on this third phase at least playing out as already planned.

I don't believe that for a single second. There is no possible way the man in charge of the whole cinematic universe found out the same time we did.

Believe it or not, the brass that run Disney is way above Feige's pay grade. I have seen stranger surprises. I don't know what gains Feige would benefit from flat-out lying about finding out the way that he did.

Anyway, Fox and Disney have merely reached an agreement. I don't know if the government has even approved the deal yet. X-Men, FF, Deadpool etc. are not thoughts that are crossing their mind at this point. That is my "hot take" at least.

From what I understand, the acquisitions of X-Men/FF will not affect the MCU anytime soon. It's going to take a long while to sort out the deal and make it 100% official.

2020 is the most consistent rumor/timeline I’ve seen for when the deal could be completely finalized.

Doesn’t mean they don’t find a way to give a cameo or post-credit scene for a character or something, though. They figured out Spider-Man pretty quickly (yes, different scenario and such, just saying the MCU can put things together quickly).

The government approval process should take 12-18 months to complete.

What a lot of people fail to realize though is that deals like this don’t just happen overnight. Disney announced the deal December 14, Infinity War began production in January of 2017 and finished in July. Avengers 4 started filming in August and wrapped production in January with additional filming scheduled to take place in July. Fox and Disney were probably in negotiations throughout all of that. Fox had probably come to the decision that they were going to sell all those assets even before that which even if they weren’t going to sell to Disney, the characters were going back to Marvel because the rights can’t be sold off to another company by Fox.

Even with the approval process needing to play out, there’s no reason that Fox and Disney couldn’t have potentially worked out an agreement to allow the characters to appear to get them involved and get one last payout off of them knowing Marvel is going to get them back anyway. Hell Fox just announced they’re plans to release 3 X-Men movies in both 2019 and 2020. So until the sale is official, they’re free to still operate as usual I guess.

Now I’m not saying it’s going to happen and that the characters are going to be in either film, but let’s not act like it’s not possible because of the sale.

                            Thank you.

My point was much less about the Feige "know-how" anyway, and was more about the fact that this just was not any part of their plans as they were filming this (and Ant-Man and whatever else is coming out soon). Though I will still take Feige at his word regardless.

At any rate, it absolutely still could happen because the film undergoes reshoots (as almost all films do), but nothing would be plot-changing if it came down to including anybody as a cameo or something.

I don't even need that. Just have Doctor Strange and Spider-Man walk by a door that says Nelson & Murdock.

The shows constantly reference the movies, but the movies never mention anything that happens in the shows.

Give me Cap reading a newspaper that says Devil of Hell's Kitchen.
