    A Quiet Place

This movie looks VERY interesting. Saw the trailer before Justice League.

    Re: A Quiet Place

Watched this last night and it was awesome.
Half-way thru I'm like "Money99, this has gotta be part of the Cloverfield Universe".
But it's not. The writers actually approached Paramount Pictures about this, but PP shot it down.

    Still, it's a great standalone sci-fi thriller.

I had no idea that John Krasinski directed the film and co-wrote the screenplay.
He did a great job. All the actors did.
    Fantastic film.

Krasinski seems to be coming into his own. Thankfully brushing off the Office/Jim typecasting. He was highly believable in 13 Hours and I can see why he was possibly considered for Captain America, though that wouldn't have worked for me. Really looking forward to him in the Jack Ryan series too. Need to check this out and was concerned it was horror, which I'm not into any longer, and more so a thriller.

        Agreed on all accounts.
And this is definitely sci-fi thriller and not horror.

My wife wants to see it because of this...she can handle thriller but the horror with gore doesn't go well for her.

Looking forward to renting or streaming eventually. Same with others on hyped for Jack Ryan...I really hope they get that character right.

If it's any consolation my wife hates gore, and won't watch anything with it.
There is an extremely small amount of gore in this film, but nothing bad at all. And certainly nothing gratuitous.
My wife was fine with the content.
This movie is all about suspense. You're at the edge of your seat most of the film.

She can handle some...just not as much as the horror genre has become now. I think we'll really like it...just might not sleep well that night lol

Loved this film, my favorite of 2018 so far.

Money I had the same exact thoughts about this being in the Cloverfield universe, it would fit in perfectly as the Cloverfield monsters react to sound but totally fine as it’s own thing. They are gonna make a sequel and I wonder what direction they will go. They could go with a whole different family or a whole different premise as this film was about family and sacrifices parents will go to, to protect their kids.

Not sure where you could go with the same family as they already figured out what to do.

Krasinski, while not confirming he would be back in any capactiy, has said that if a sequel happens...it would be about the rest of the world and how others survived, not the same family.

                      Re: A Quiet Place

We watched this the first week that it came out. My parents were in town and my step-father hadn't been to a movie since the 90's. He's almost 69 years old and is almost deaf but refuses to get a hearing aid.

When the movie started he looked over at me all excited and said "I can hear this ". Then, of course, they only said a handful of lines throughout the entire movie.

But yeah, the movie was super suspenseful and enjoyable. I'd love a sequel to see other families and more about how everything started.

I am interested as well. Some holes, yes, but nothing that glared out at me or took anything away from the movie to me.
