Re: The Americans - Season 6
Man, that scene in the garage had me frozen. I honestly thought that he was going to call it in. And then the depot scene happened and completely one upped it!
I think they nailed it. From cold open to fade to black, they got it right. And man, playing Brothers In Arms was perfect to a T.
SpoilerIt sucks that they had to get separated, but it was honestly the best course of action for everybody involved.
I assume Stan knows they don't have anything on Paige and won't go after her, especially considering that "Paige Jennings" doesn't exist anymore. At the same I think she will take up the task Phillip said he would do, watching Henry from a distance and explaining things over time. Plus, with Character Actress Margo Martindale out of the picture she literally has no more connections to Russia in the state or means to make contact. Stan has to know this and idk if they're going to keep tabs on anybody resembling her or not, but she's toothless now.
Speaking of Stan, I think they lingering shot hints that Renee is indeed a spy. Like Phillip said, Stan can't know for sure so for now it's SOP but with a more evaluative eye on her.And may thy spirit live in us, Forever LSU

I'm a little confused about Paige, but I would think she would be free and clear. Philip and Liz might have rationalized her need to escape too but that might have been more about them wanting her to be with them. Then again she didn't return to her apartment opting to go to Claudia's safehouse.Comment

Philip and Liz might have rationalized her need to escape too but that might have been more about them wanting her to be with them. Then again she didn't return to her apartment opting to go to Claudia's safehouse.SpoilerThink about it this way: we don't know what the ruling on the Jennings three officially is. I for one will assume that the government faked their deaths. Hell, for all we know Stan told Henry that they died, not that they were spies. In keeping with this, Paige can no longer be Paige Jennings. I'm not sure how she gets the resources but she'll have to graft a new life for herself in the states but it's her only play. Hell, it would actually make more sense to fake their deaths than it would expose them.
If the government is willing to "disclose" that the Jennings were totally spies, then nothing changed except Henry's feelings. Paige definitely can't live as Paige Jennings.
And they have nothing to pin on Paige if they try to pursue her. Only Stan knows that she was a spy, but he doesn't have anything concrete anyway. If he tells tells his superiors about Paige then he has to tell them about the garage so there is nothing there. Paige knows nothing about anything the only person who can bring her in won't.Last edited by Watson; 05-31-2018, 01:15 PM.And may thy spirit live in us, Forever LSU

I liked this article, which focuses on Elizabeth and her relationships:

Re: The Americans - Season 6
Finally got caught up. Watched the finale after the Caps game, fittingly enough.
Incredibly (if unintentionally) cruel of Philip to tell Stan that Renee might be one of "them".
As if Stan wasn't already going to suffer enough trust issues for the rest of his life.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: The Americans - Season 6
The worst situation for Stan is that Renee is a Commie and Philip never told him about his suspicions.
Yeah, I've heard the "the marriage is doomed" talk but the marriage is fine if Renee is a Commie and Stan is oblivious to that fact? Isn't it possible that the "heads up" combined with Stan looking into things might lead to Renee's exoneration? I'm not saying that's a certainty but it's a possibility.
However we weigh the pluses and minuses of Philip's bombshell I think it was a good inclusion in the garage scene.Comment
