Still, I feel like what Lucas did with the prequels and what Disney did here - these movies are much easier to stomach on first watch than the prequels were.
Definitely agree with you on that. At this point, I can't see myself going back and watching Episodes I or II again. There's just not enough there to keep me interested/entertained. Even Episode III there's section I'd likely skip over on any future viewings.

As a lifelong Star Wars fan, the Rise of Skywalker was everything I needed it to be in my heart to wrap up the series. I know they intentionally played on nostalgia with the new series and honestly after the prequels I needed that some. I will always love all the Star Wars movies for what they are, a big part of my childhood and adulthood for that matter. Excited to see what comes in the future.

Colin Trevorrow's supposed script for XI (Duel of Fates was his subtitle) leaked via reddit.

It's a little painful to read and realize we will never get that movie.

            Re: Star Wars: Episode IX

I finally saw IX today. The longest it has ever taken me to get to the theatre for a SW movie (and I have been around for all of them). Put me in the camp of folks that was pleasantly surprised with TROS as a follow up to TLJ (which was a SW low for me).

I enjoyed it. But I just don't love this trilogy. I was 13 when ROTJ came out, so I had 3 decades of my adult life to watch the VHS tapes and DVD's over and over and over again. I had closure on those storylines....which the ST basically undid. Had this trilogy been set in the SW universe 1000 years before (or after) without the Skywalker connection, I would have enjoyed it more.

Episodes 1 and 2 are complete trash to me 2 of the worst movies i have ever seen before. 5-7 all 3 of those movies are 3 of my top 10 all time favorite movies. The other star wars movies i like at least some what some more then others with this one being my favorite out side of 5-7 but 5-7 are easily ahead of the other ones to me. RO i find to be the most overrated star wars movie. This trilogy i like a lot but at the same time i fell like the trilogy could have been even better because of how good of a star TFA was for the trilogy. TFA really was/is a perfect star wars movie. There are about 10 things that i think could have made this trilogy even better, and its to bad that TFA was easily the best of the trilogy. So even with liking the trilogy a lot, i do think it didn't reach its full potential, and its to bad that the reception and box office both fell off so much after TFA. If the last 2 movies were considered even close to has good has TFA most people would be happy has most people thought TFA was good. Even most people that don't like TFA think its not a bad movie just to much like ANH and the whole TFA being like ANH thing is not even true either. Its not ANH 2.0 like people act like.

                Re: Star Wars: Episode IX

I enjoyed some of TFA. It was a nice nostalgic romp. But Starkiller base was a rehash we didn't need. And Rey learning the force in 10 minutes didn't really align with established lore.

                    I FINALLY saw the movie.

Probably recency bias, but I might put this as my fave SW movie. Worst case would be 3rd overall.

I'm not a lifelong fan or one who saw any of the first 6 movies when they first came out.

Episodes 3,6,9 are in my top 3 fave SW movies.

                    I'll still use SPOILER tags.

I believe they had unused footage of Fisher from the prior two films that they worked into the script.

I read they had some body double act out things and they edited in her face over it or something?

Most of it was unused footage from previous movies, but the scene where she is training with Luke is actually her daughter (Billie Lourd who is also in the movies) with a younger Leia face CGI'd on her. If you have access to the special features either on the disc or on the digital version there is a part of the documentary in which they talk about how they did it.

I agree about TFA. I loved it and after walking out of the theatre I felt it washed the bad taste left in my mouth by the prequels and left me pumped for the new trilogy.
Sadly, that's where it ended. I feel like episode 8 is the worst of all of them - which says a lot considering The Phantom Menace exists.
Episode 9 was pretty good but I'll likely never watch it again.
My son loves star wars so we'll frequently watch the movies over again.
I've now come to the conclusion that the prequels, as a whole, are better than the new trilogy.
Maybe I'll come to like the new films more as I age.
But currently, I'm still bummed with how 'meh' it turned out - especially after how great TFA was. That film is right there with episodes 4, 5 and 6.
It makes me wonder how different EP's 8 & 9 would have been if JJ had written them too?
I should Google to see if there were other plans at some point.

I also wonder if there will come a time that all 9 episodes will be rebooted.
