    X-Men: Dark Phoenix

    Poster:
    Spoiler

After a copy recorded on a cell phone leaked online last night, the first trailer for the massively delayed final main film in the Fox X-Men movie franchise, Dark Phoenix, will be premiered by Sophie Turner (Jean Grey) on The Late Late Show with James Corden tonight!

It seems like a lot of people are down on this franchise and ready for these characters to be rebooted in the MCU, but this is the culmination of 20 years of fandom for me and many others. Here's hoping it ends with a bang!

Honestly, I have a bad feeling about this movie, but the fact that this is the last time I'll be sitting around hyped up for an X-Men trailer to drop has me genuinely bummed out. On an unrelated note, one of my biggest regret is we didn't get a Wolverine/Deadpool team up. I still can't believe Jackman didn't at least cameo in the first Deadpool. Oh well.

Note - New Mutants, Gambit, and Deadpool 3/X-Force are all still supposedly to come from Fox, but I would consider those spin-offs. Dark Phoenix is definitely the last film from Fox featuring the central X-Men characters.

PS - For what it's worth, watching First Class, X1-X3, The Wolverine, and Days of Future Past in that order is amazing and I like the way the new cast bookends it. Not to mention DOFP has the PERFECT happy ending to the series. The first Wolverine was trash, Apocalypse wasn't much better, and Logan was amazing but depressing af.

Man, Kevin Feige is gonna do wonders for this franchise.

I'll still see this regardless of how the trailer looks.

Honestly, the thought of rebooting the series in the Marvel cinema-verse is tiring to me.

They should've done this when they had the chance with Janssen. This new actress does nothing for me.

Pretty meh. We'll see how the trailers look once more FX are done over the next few months.

Last hurrah for this continuity, almost wish they shelved it instead.

Yep nope. I’ll give it a few more trailers to see if anything more is revealed but I have no patience for another damn half assed Fox Phoenix is a state of mind movie. I thought they would have learned their lesson on this, but clearly not. By the time this comes out, the X-Men should be just a few weeks from going home where they belong if not days. Hopefully they can bury this under Avengers tower, reboot this franchise properly and revisit this story years from now where they can do it right.

Looks good imo. Wonder whose funeral? All the main characters were there at the end of DOFP so...

                  Re: X-Men: Dark Phoenix

That trailer was pretty boring. I know it was a lot expecting the Shi'ar Empire and that whole part of the story line, this looks and feels too much like the 3rd X-Men movie (X-Men United) which was surprisingly the worst of the 3 movies.

If you're not able to truly reach the grand vision of this story line, why even attempt it then? I The last movie was pretty bad. They were on such a good roll with First Class and Days of Future Past. Then Apocalypse came out which was pretty bad. Another huge story and amazing villain they just couldn't nail.

I'm somewhat growing tired of the "Marvel Universe" created over at Disney but i can't deny they know how to make something grand. They've also spoken about resetting that Universe at the end of the next Avengers movie. Hopefully they start to make each movie feel like it's own thing. The last few movies have felt too much of the same. I understand they all share the same universe, but each of their movies have started to blend together in a bad boring way.

Regardless, this X-Men movie doesn't look very interesting to me.

With those who were displayed it seems to confuse the timelines, or am I to assume we should forget the first 3 movies?

Do you mean the original trilogy or the prequel trilogy? I've never been a super big X-Men fan, and it's been a while since I've seen the original trilogy so I'm not sure how it confuses the timeline.

Unless I missed something in the trailer, which is totally possible.

Well the third movie had Jean become the Phoenix for the first time and Charles and them had no idea what was happening...which seems to be the case here, which means they should've known about it in the original trilogy in X3 if they're all connected.

                        I think.

The time line was reset in Days of Future Past so basically its happening to Jean the same way as X3 but at a younger age.

This. DOFP reset everything from the 70s on and Charles supposedly has a good idea of what’s to come from reading Wolverines mind in the 70s.

Old time line: First Class, X1-X3, Wolverine, DOFP

New timeline: DOFP, Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix.

One question would be, why did Charles put the blocks in jeans mind just like in the original timeline if he knew from reading Wolverines mind how bad that turned out. Maybe Charles only got glimpses from Logan.

People complain about the timeline being messed up. I’m telling you if you watch First Class, X1-X3, Wolverine, and DOFP in that order it’s a damn good series and makes sense.
