Hated it honestly. Increasing Mad Queen tendencies and willing to use harsher means to take the iron throne make a lot of sense. A full heel turn and burning the entire city after the surrender? That sucks

Yea i was probably in denial too, and after last week it certainly looked unlikely she was going to end the show one of the good guys. Just didn't see her completely losing it and destroying the entire city after she had already won. Figured it would be something a little less extreme that caused everyone to completely turn on her.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: Game of Thrones: Season 8 (Final season)
I cant help but think theyve done this to her character for the express purpose of getting Jon (and the Starks) over as our true saviors. The ones we should be rooting for. I know how much the producers love Kit Harrington.
I will say, as the season has gone on, the decision to end the white walkers in episode 3 becomes more and more jarring. Perhaps they shouldve won at winterfell, and been the true final battle at Kings Landing...Comment

It was a good episode production wise. Not so much story wise. We may never find out the true ending as GRRM will never finish the books

I just can not get all this love for the white walkers.
They were never that interesting. Undead wanting to kill the living. That's not all that interesting. There's no depth to that. No story to tell. They've had very little connection to the world and characters we've been a part of for 8 seasons. Why would they end the show with them?
SpoilerNightking killing everyone at Kingslanding- He doing the bad stuff. Darn.
Dany killing everyone at kingslanding- YOOOO. Holy ****. She's officially ****ing lost it! Dammmmnnnn. What's going to happen now?!Comment

Books will have a lot more to add in the way of secondary characters who's story could vary significantly.Comment

Absolutely loved it. Best episode of the season thus far. Seems like the story could go on forever. 1 episode left. wowLast edited by johnnyg713; 05-13-2019, 02:26 AM.Comment

Re: Game of Thrones: Season 8 (Final season)
I feel like you just can't please everyone. Some people will love this direction. Some will hate it. The characters have changed so much that we had come to love. So this series has kind of gone into unchartered territory and a difficult place to keep everyone happy.
SpoilerDany going all dark is probably surprising to most. But keep in mind she doesn't feel comfortable anymore.
She and Jon are falling apart. She lost another dragon, and Mesandre. She's starting to question her destiny. Everything is falling apart, and her claim to the throne is now even in question. The whole reason she even brought her armies across the world is in question.
So she's losing it. And that dragon blood inside her is boiling and she follows in the Mad Kings footsteps. I thought that was a brilliant plot twist and I completely understood it.Last edited by DamnYanks2; 05-13-2019, 02:36 AM.Comment

Re: Game of Thrones: Season 8 (Final season)
Direction is fine, the lack of leg work is not. This show has plenty of "unpopular" decisions in its history that we could swallow because the narrative was rock solid. I dont remember people being happy that Robb Stark died. But damn that entire arc was well done.
The spectacle that is GoT 8 is great. I think the narrative has fallen off a cliff. The payoffs they are trying to sell are falling flat. And the only reason for that, is a lack of a proper coherent build toward them. That is where backlash comes in. Even in the behind the scenes, Dan couldnt sell Dany's turn in that moment.
But yet again, at least the visuals were awesome.Comment

Game of Thrones: Season 8 (Final season)
I knew Dany would turn eventually after the audience figuring out who Jon really was and Brans vision of Dany he had awhile ago of the throne room in snow but turned out to be ashes.
They did a great job developing Dany and her ego. It grew into a monster
