Re: Game of Thrones: Season 8 (Final season)
So what's up with the symbols the White Walkers make? I mean, they've definitely have been noticeable thing throughout the series but we didn't get any info on that before the Night King's demise... Interesting.
One would think that if the future of the show revolves around battles for the throne then will we ever find out what the spiral's mean since they're not really relevant to any thing going on in Kings Landing. Perhaps we haven't really send the end of the Night King? My memory is fuzzy but didn't the Children of the Forest defeat him before? Maybe he can come back to life somehow?
Not really a spoiler just my theory

I feel like the White Walkers will be 100% explored in one of the prequels and that’s why they gave us the sparknotes version in this main show (because its all we really needed for this) and save the Long Night backstory for a prequel.
Also they didn’t defeat him - they created him.Last edited by Beantown; 04-29-2019, 06:14 PM.Comment

[emoji38]SpoilerAs I recall the CotF have already been wiped out so I don't think that would work. As far as the symbol goes I believe it's originally a symbol from the CotF and also looks very similar to the Targaryen house symbol. But they man have gotten that idea from the CotF as well. Remember all the hieroglyphs on Dragonstone? That was from the CotF.

Re: Game of Thrones: Season 8 (Final season)
I forgot to mention that Jon being Lyanna’s son and the heir to the throne as his main arc lmao I typed my last post way too fast oh well. But I am just disappointed we never see the Night King in proper 1v1 combat. I wish it was with Jon but I don’t care if Arya comes in and still comes it but there stare battles ends with neither fighting each other with swords oh well.
Also George RR Martin told the directors 3 big points from the books. So far two of them happened and the third hasn’t if I am not mistaken. I would assume it is not Arya killing the Night King because he is not in the books. Maybe it is something with Bran or like the Throne being destroyed with all the wildfire still under King’s Landing. I guess we’ll see.Comment

Re: Game of Thrones: Season 8 (Final season)
What did i expect him to be? His name was night king. Was more powerful than the 3 eyed raven. He outsmarted Danni and Jon every step of the way. Killed a dragon..... literally the whole theme of the last couple seasons have been the ominous presence of the night king and the white walkers lol. Cut and dry. Please.Last edited by johnnyg713; 04-29-2019, 07:22 PM.Comment

Re: Game of Thrones: Season 8 (Final season)
I dont know, IMO the show missed the whole point that the Squables between the houses mean nothing compared to the army of the dead. Build it up all this time for it all too go away in 1 episode is **** writing. Snow doing everything in his power to unite the north and disregarding his safety and position(s) to do so, then you get that ending. I dont know but it feels.....off.
I'm still watching it because I made it this far but I'm extremely let down for now. That may change the rest of the series.

Game of Thrones: Season 8 (Final season)
There are parallels between him and Jon and also between him and Bran. The night king was potrayed as someone who had higher motives than just kill people. Episodes like hard home and interfering with Brandon’s visions clearly allude to a higher train of thought.

Did he outsmart them or did he just not care about them at all because his first goal was Bran/3ER and they kept outthinking themselves assuming he wanted to fight them?
The “squabbles between houses” over the throne have meant more to every single character aside from Jon for the entire show up until like three or four episodes ago. The viewer knows more than everyone, obviously, but literally no one believed or cared about Jon and the North/Dead Army until literally season 7. It’s not important to anyone but us and Jon for 90% of the series, hence why it got the midpoint finale and not the series one.
Basically - myself included - any disappointment from this episode seems to correlate with all the theories online that we all wanted to happen being just that, theories.Last edited by Beantown; 04-29-2019, 07:49 PM.Comment

Game of Thrones: Season 8 (Final season)
You’re going to be disappointed, I think. We literally just saw them all vanish.
On the flip side, with 3 episodes left, it’d be a big let down if they don’t focus on the Throne after spending the first half of the final season on the Walkers.Comment

Re: Game of Thrones: Season 8 (Final season)
I don't think you understand where I'm getting at. There needs to be closure on the whole situation. The white walkers are dead but there will be a bigger picture moment at some point with Bran I would assume. You don't conclude such a complex narrative with a shallow ending like that. GRRM wouldn't anyways... HBO on the other hand. Remains to be seen.Comment

The complex narrative is on the internet and fan theories. They showed how he was made. Bran said what he wanted. Anything else is either fan theory or will be saved for a prequel.
Also this “GRRM wouldn’t” thought is laughable. He told the show runners the biggest three points. If he didn’t want this, he probably should’ve written the ****ing books.Last edited by Beantown; 04-29-2019, 09:47 PM.Comment

Re: Game of Thrones: Season 8 (Final season)
Let's end this debate. You sound so matter of fact. Do you understand the basic concept of story telling? Bran can time travel and effect the past. There is a red god who tells Melisandre about the war against the white walkers and brought Jon back to life. These are all concepts that the show introduced. Not fan theories. Do you think these major plot holes are okay to leave unanswered? There are 3 episodes left to tie these loose ends.Comment

Re: Game of Thrones: Season 8 (Final season)
I agree if this is it for the White Walkers, I would be pretty disappointed. 8 seasons of hype just do die from a ninja jump and faint? ehhhhhh.
Im hoping someone has to fill the Night Kings void or something.GT: Event Horizon 0Comment

Nah, I have no idea what story telling means.
Just like I have no idea what storytellers of a TV show mean.
Just like I have no idea what the difference of “major unanswered plot holes mean.”
Just like I’ve clearly never read a book or watched a TV show.
Lets go with yours:
Bran can time travel, yes. Bran sees the future, comes up with the plan, and it works perfectly. Next.
Melisandre sees Arya and sees her future. She fulfill everything. Next.
She brings Jon back to life to unite the southern realms against the white walkers. Next.
Beric, also brought back multiple times by the Lord of Light, was clearly shown to have only been brought back all those times to save Arya so she can do this (as Bran and Melisandre saw). Next.
The three coming episodes have bigger more important issues to deal with than anything to do with the Night King and the walkers. Ya know, like the Throne. Next.
What don’t I understand about the basic concept of storytelling again?
I’m sorry I didn’t by into every Bran js the Night King theory. Or Anything like that. I watch the show for what it is - a TV show. Do I wish there was one more inpftful death this episode? Sure. But I also know there’s three more episodes of STORYTELLING that we need these characters alive for. Do I wish we got a little more about the Night King? Kinda, but they showed his birth and told his message and nothing has ever argued about his “He wants me” message Bran says.
Stop reading the internet and watch the show.Last edited by Beantown; 04-30-2019, 12:16 AM.Comment
