Thanks for the suggestions. I ended up watching the original trilogy first; then the prequel trilogy; and finally, the episodes 7 and 8 (on Netflix). I hadn't seen a single Star Wars movie before last week and now I have run through all the main entries. I knew the broad strokes just from pop culture and Family Guy and stuff, but it was enjoyable. I think I enjoyed the prequels the most. I found them to be the most layered. I know why the originals spawned such a cult following. The last two were fine but I felt it lacked the character development of the others. It felt bland and by the numbers and unbalanced. I enjoyed them, though. I'll be checking out the Mandelorian now.

Actual machete order skips The Phantom Menace and shouldn't be done because 1) Darth Maul is awesome and 2) it's unnecessary. If they try to deprive you of Duel of the Fates, they can't be trusted.
When you say the prequels are more layered, what do you mean?Last edited by DieHardYankee26; 12-02-2019, 08:13 AM.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: Disney+
They’re part of 21st Century Fox movies/shows that Disney acquired earlier this year or last year. You’ll also notice The Simpsons as the other big one. Potentially be able to get King of the Hill, Futurama etc later down the line too.

Re: Disney+
The prequels went into the politics of how got to where we were in the original. Without getting into spoilers, I understand the why of the ideology of the Empire. Honestly, I thought of parallels to the world today. The originals didn't have that kind if depth to me. And like I said, I knew some of the Star Wars universe already so I wasnt really shocked by anything.Comment

Re: Disney+
As far as the original six films, I was recommended Machete Order when I saw them all for the first time, and I can't imagine going any other order that would have had a greater impact for me.
- Episode 4
- Episode 5
- Episode 1
- Episode 2
- Episode 3
- Episode 6
- Episode 7
- Episode 8
Seeing Episode I - III before VI allowed me to:
Spoiler
1) Be caught totally off-guard with Luke and Leia being revealed as siblings (no, I never knew this before seeing it).
2) Humanizing Darth Vader a little more, making you feel it when he dies in Episode VI.
As far as Rogue One, I don't know if it's because of the "downgrade" that you get in visuals and effect going from R1 to IV (especially the Vader corridor scene to Vader vs. Obi Wan) or the prequel effect of seeing Leia at the end after having seen Episode IV, but I don't know if I like seeing that one first as much. I feel like Rogue One should just be watched at any point after Episode VII. I like getting Rey as our first female lead, and then you can go to Jyn thereafter.
Oh, and unless they continue that Solo timeline, **** that one. I doubt it's on Disney+ right now anyway for contractual reasons.SpoilerThey humanized Vader in Episodes I and II and then do the reverse in III. There is no humanizing a guy who murders younglings. If anything it made me feel more standoff-ish towards Vader.
Vader did what he to Sidious when he was already sort of dying, very convenient. It would like Himmler killing Hitler just before the end of the war. Like, thanks, but how about you kill yourself too.
Vader is a character one shouldn't think about too much in depth because if you do, that one act at the end doesn't override his war crimes. If Vader had survived Episode VI he would had been tried Nuremberg style. But I digress.
PS: I said all of this acknowledging that Star Wars movies aren't meant to be taken too seriously.OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

Re: Disney+
Just saw Togo got a new poster and just saw that the mandalorian 7th episode is coming out on Wednesday the 18th instead of the 20th. I guess they figured it was better to have it not be the same night has opening night of Rise of skywalker.Comment

Re: Disney+
You have never seen the animated movie Balto from 1995? It was based of the same store. I had not heard of Togo before this but both Balto and Togo are from the same event that happened. Its basically about sled dogs that are trying to take some medicine threw a storm 600 miles to save people. Its a cool true story and i love dogs and wolves so yeah i am pretty excited about this.Comment

Disney+ does not approve of a lot of VPN services. Heh.
Been knocking out some watches (or rewatched) of the Star Wars saga. Caught Ep 8 for first time, then went backwards to Rogue One for first time, decided to continue on to Ep 4 (rewatch) and getting in to Ep 5. In my “old age” I usually take multiple sittings to watch movies. Big subtitle guy too, when I’m watching by myself at least. Gotta catch all those lines.
My son digs Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and started him on some Duck Tales. One of the animated Spider-Man series had a bit too much gunplay for his age so we discontinued that viewing. Ha
A good bit of Christmas movies for the season too.
Worth the $7/month so far.Last edited by slickdtc; 12-16-2019, 09:19 AM.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

I'm sure if you connect to a European country it'll work too but never tried since Australia is closer to me.
