Re: Survivor 42
Lindsey should have played her shot in the dark also. Jeff could have screwed it up with no one getting voted out. If Tori wins, Lindsey was the only one left to be voted out. Her vote didn't matter so she had no risk in playing the shot in the dark. That's not at all what I was thinking would happen at tribal. That 2nd tribal made you completely skip over what happened in the first tribal in a weird way (even though what happened in the first tribal is what led to what we saw in the 2nd tribal).
I definitely see where Drea was coming from. BB and Survivor dont have the best track record when it comes to specific demographics. That's what led to what we saw on BB23, which no doubt was fresh on people's minds when filming S41 and 42.
I wonder if Tori was also a reason for it too. They knew she wanted Rocks out, and then they saw that not only did Rocks get voted out right after Chanelle, but it happened in a tribal without Tori even involved, so it meant multiple people had that mindset to get him out. And on top of that, the person they told Drea to get out (Maryanne) would've gone home if Drea did play her idol correctly, should she have needed to (which she probably felt already that she did).
It's not a race thing in the sense that they were voting like that, obviously. But it's a reaction from Drea to history and perception.
On a diff note, that was still a weird ending to the tribal. No voting required, but they allowed everyone to publicly state their vote, let idols be played, AND still let Tori play the shot in the dark? How is that even fair at all? If I was Lindsey, I would've been beyond mad getting voted out due to that. How was someone allowed playing a shot in the dark AFTER votes are known, AFTER idols are played, with literally 0 risk since you didnt have a vote to begin with.

Re: Survivor 42
It was weird because most of the info that is private was out in the open. But if Tori was safe with her shot in the dark, Lindsey wouldn’t have been safe with her shot in the dark. AFAIK, there’s only one “safe” scroll in there, and in this hypothetical Tori would’ve pulled it already.
The discussion was interesting because in a vacuum it’s not seen as a problem, but the cumulative effect was the point and a good one by Drea. It wasn’t like this was masterminded, but seeing the same situation again and again, you wonder. I thought that was a good way of putting it by her.
I’ve been binging the seasons over the last few months and it’s wild how the game has shifted. I like the middle seasons the most I think, it’s the best cross between survival and the game, whereas early on it was very survival based and lately it’s been very gameplay-based. I like the twists they’ve introduced over the last few seasons to keep you on your toes though. It’s not just about making sure the votes are solid, you never know who’s got some crazy amulet or idol or whatever. And the different partnerships formed off of those.
I think having a strong camp and someone who can provide food regularly is still a major deal to the players, but isn’t as highlighted to the viewer. It does only go so far though. Eventually they decide you’re expendable. Can probably get you to the merge though.
This is the first survivor I’m following along as it goes. After that last council, it’s been hard not being able to play the next episode!NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: Survivor 42
Does each shot in the dark get a fresh 1/6 chance? Or are there 6 chances and once the first person draws the second person now only have 5 scrolls to choose from?Lindsey should have played her shot in the dark also. If the latter is true then there was no reason for Lindsey to play her shot in the dark.Comment

Re: Survivor 42
I thought each person had there own chance or at least it is 2/12 now.
It really hasn't been used much in the game even with people knowing they don't have the votes. I wonder if next season we see people using it more since that should be the 1st season after people have seen it.

Re: Survivor 42
I've been liking this season a lot more than many of the recent newbie seasons.
I said that about 41 too but the ending of that hurt it big time for me.
4 of the remaining 6 I could live with winning. Hopefully the f3 doesn't end up with 2 of Lindsey,Romeo though.Comment

Re: Survivor 42
Monty Hall came back again, she went against the odds and it worked out.
I loved how Drea went out, she got blindsided with a smile, and sorta exposed everyone's games on her exit, also with a smile lolWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: Survivor 42
Maryanne got lucky with that one. Lindsey didnt play the idol because it could come back into circulation?
Once it expires, won't it come back into circulation anyways? And even if it does, you go into the f5 with 2 guaranteed votes for someone. So unless the other 3 teamed up, you're in a good spot.
As for that vote, let's say Omer did get an idol played. It's now 2 for Jonathan and 2 for Romeo. Revote happens and those 2 can't vote.
Lindsey and Omer vote Jonathan, Maryanne and Mike vote Romeo. Jonathan would have to be voted out because Maryanne and Mike would become the only eligible people to go to rocks. So she definitely avoided disaster.
Romeo seems like he's making the f3 at this point and will be the typical 3rd place finisher who gets 0 votes and nobody discusses in the finals.
Everyone else has a legit shot to win the game.Comment

Maybe they had reason to believe it wouldn't go back into circulation because it wasn't a normal idol?Maryanne got lucky with that one. Lindsey didnt play the idol because it could come back into circulation?

If another split vote would have come down to Marryanne vs Mike drawing rocks then I think Mike would have just voted out Jonathan. I am glad she was able to complete a big move since I love any and all blindsides.Comment

Re: Survivor 42
Going into the finale, I'd rank things from most likely to least likely to win as:
Maryanne
Jonathan
Lindsey
Mike
RomeoThat's the thing about big moves in Survivor, if it works out then you're smart and it's a big move. If it fails, then people say it was a stupid move. Theres such a fine line between great and horrible moves.Maybe they had reason to believe it wouldn't go back into circulation because it wasn't a normal idol?

Re: Survivor 42
What an ending.
Wasn't expecting that for the f3, but glad with how it ended.
The season as a whole was good, and for me, the winner has an impact on how I view the season, so this only helped my thoughts on this season, unlike last year where I felt like the winner hurt how I viewed it.Comment

I thought Mike would win after he won the fire challenge, and Muscle Man was vanquished

Re: Survivor 42
I agree Maryanne was great! She did the thing I always wanted somebody to do is to not telling anyone you have an immunity idol or advantage. That's what did Drea in!Comment
