Really enjoying this season. Most everyone seems pretty cool and likable in some way. The one person that’s annoyed me has been Gabler. In the challenges when he has messed up he just didn’t seem to care that their *** was on the line. I don’t know if he’s just aloof like that or the advantage he has has gone to his head.

Vesi getting rid of Justine felt like one of their bigger early moves I can remember. I don’t know if Cody was right about salespeople (have you ever noticed how many medical/pharmaceutical salespeople have played survivor historically?) but I think he was on the money on her.

The Baka/Vesi alliance is interesting. Smart to potentially join up early while Coco had the numbers, but after tonight’s episode Baka has the most members. Wonder if that changes things.

Does anyone else try to guess who wins based off the first or first few episodes? I’ve got a feeling on Karla. She’s playing smart and hard but doesn’t come off as trying too hard. Her and James seem to have a pretty strong connection and then a third vote in Cassidy. James himself is another good pick — maybe Karla will tip her hand and James can survive when everyone else targets their voting bloc.

Yeah I’ve been watching the whole series this year and I’ve been trying to find a pattern on how much the eventual winner pops up early on. It’s this sweet spot where they don’t want to focus too much on them but they also aren’t ignored. Maybe Karla and Elie have been red herrings, because they have seemed to have gotten a good bit of screen time. James might be the pick here... adjacent to Karla but not as spotlighted, chess master so his puzzle skills are great, solid competitor but not a clear strongman (and with Ryan as a shield). He could excel in individual immunity challenges.

Merge tonight? I think we’re at 13 total right now, 4 on Coco, 5 on Baka, 4 on Vesi.

Would love to see a tribal council for all 3 tribes and pare us down to 10 and then merge up. Seems the merge’s are bigger these days though. Not sure if it’s following a format. I’ve watched all the seasons out of order.

I want a late merge one season. Players can usually anticipate when the merge happens based on how many are left. That's one thing I mentioned about a tweak to the game to change up the predictability of things.

I like no tribe swaps though. Usually we see tribes this way for 3 or 4 votes, a tribe swap for 1-2 tribals, then the merge.

Jeff having to emphasize that the results of the merge challenge is final and the sit out has no impact on the results...because everyone went crazy at the horrible hourglass twist the last 2 seasons (it ruined s41 which was actually an above average season before that stupid twist ruined it, as if the loser of a challenge who might get voted out WON'T choose to reverse the challenge decision...)

Jeanine with the funniest moment of the season?

"WE GOT THIS GUYS, WE GOT THIS! WE CAN WIN THIS!"

"Jeanine..this is red, you're blue, you're on the other team"

That got intense at the end! Good vote. Elie had started to wear on everyone. I got nervous for my man James for a minute. Gabler is a wild man!

Ryan sitting with Jeanine when Gabler drops the idol reveal and him bugging out was pretty funny. Jeanine not playing it for Elie was smart, she was doomed. Now Jeanine has to work her way back up the ladder, though I think Owen voted with her for James?

Yeah sounds like he had something going on with his voice (congestion?) but also that whatever it was was hitting the exact tone to where the mics picking it up made it sound garbled.

I don't watch "next time on Survivor" anymore, I want to be fully surprised.

Yeah I think Owen voted with Elie for James because he was trying to keep Baka together and also he owed them for showing him the advantage Jeanine had won, not knowing they didn’t really like his game and were gonna play him eventually. Think he saw those girls as threats he could ride with and be shielded by. Which made sense because that’s exactly why she was targeted by others.

Was Gabler just being paranoid or did they really go through his bag? I can’t remember. The confrontations between him and Elie were some of the more intense interactions I’ve seen on modern Survivor. I think he and Sami read her like a book. We’ll see how long Gabler can play like he is. Elie made sure to paint a bright target on his back before leaving.

I guess nothing came of the Vesi/Baka alliance, yet. Those tribal lines are falling apart, I could see Vesi sticking together as a 4 for a while because Baka is basically a 3-1 and same for Coco with Ryan kind of a free agent, though he seemed to be united with them when he shared info that James & Cass name were being thrown about.

Also, Ryan is kind of a superhero? I felt kind of bad for Karla getting up that ramp being a bigger girl. She’s cool and I hope her hand is okay, they seemed to show that a good bit so hopefully it doesn’t become an issue.

Great episode. Fully invested in this season.

She did go through his bag which is what makes it stranger how she's reacting.

It wasn't just her though.

She and Jeanine went through his bag because they wanted clarification on his idol rules. Owen was sitting right there when it happened, so he didn't go through the bag, but he was like the lookout person.

They found the idol rules and realized Gablers idol didnt expire yet, but didn't think Gabler knew the full rules of his idol (he said he's glad he gets to keep it because it'll be a souvenir I think for his daughter or niece? pretending like he didn't know he had 1 more tribal to use it)

That's why I like the editing on Survivor and BB especially when they do the flashback clips during an argument.

Hard to be as invested in the argument when you have no idea who is actually right. But when they do the flashbacks, you'll see exactly who was right.
