Only they knew as far as I can remember. The whole plan made no sense unless they just wanted to flush the idol and didn't care who went home. She had full control over who was going home and she should have voted for Austin to flush his idol.

I thought they were going to end up with a tribal were no votes counted.

Drew really only wanted to get rid of the idol she wouldn't give back. Her vote would have gone the same way .. unless she changes it to Austin. So basically it was get rid of her or the idol and if the idol is played someone outside of the 4 goes home.

Drew is in a good spot now because he has both sides. He led the effort to blindside but knew all along it may not work. The other side doesn't know that though. Drew can pretend he was surprised and use them to flip on Dee.

An update on S43 since people typically forget/don't care about players much if at all once the seasons done...

Gabler revealed he's finished donating all the money he won. Looks like a few dozen charities. Based on the number of charities and how much he probably got after taxes ("thanks to Obama" as Jeff Kent would say), I'd say everyone probably got 25k.

She needs Austin out, but if she blindsided Austin, Dee's also blindsided and wouldn't trust Julie as much.

Then she'd be entering next tribal with a big move on her resume and everyone targeting her, including her own alliance.

Dee would have to work with her because she has no other alliances that are strong.

The other play was to tell Austin and make sure he played his idol. If both idols get played, no one goes home, and it resets. Then they go after the others.

Either way, she has the target on herself. She could have removed an idol or a threat. While a number was removed that wasn't close to her, she probably could have used that vote this week.

            Re: Survivor 45

Dee's 100% playing to win and its paying off.

Austin told her about Julie, she got Julie to save herself while also pretending she never knew and it worked.

Then she DIDNT tell Austin about Drew, she voted Drew out, Austin played his idol not for Drew and it worked.

If we're doing firemaking at F4, I don't even know who is good and who isn't. We've seen past challenges where even the good firemaker lost so anything can happen.

I see the final 5 ranking being
            1. Dee
            2. Austin
            3. Julie
            4. Jake
            5. Katurah

glad Drew is gone, the confident look on his face at tribal was priceless

also, is no one else noticing that Jake is an actor and sometimes his accent goes away?

I'm not so sure Dee is the favorite over mama J, they're 1A and 1B and I'm not sure which is which

Julie's big moves were because of Dee (including the big momentum shift move of Dee saving Julie by flat out telling her to play her idol and vote out Emily).

That alone should give Dee the edge over Julie.

Jake: I'm not gonna tell anyone about my idol like everyone else always does.

                  *Next episode*

Jake: I have the idol. I want you to vote out Julie.

                  Austin: .....no.

If you wanted to vote someone out, why do you need to tell others to gather the numbers when a successful idol play will have your vote being the one that decides who goes home...

                    Re: Survivor 45

One of those times the first part of the finale easily could've been a single episode. So much to unpack from that alone.

Katurah wanted Jake to vote Dee with her.

Jake plays the idol for Katurah.

Katurah changes her vote thinking everyone's voting her (don't know what she thought she'd accomplish if that was the case?)

Julie voted out because AUSTIN voted her out too?

So Dee voted Katurah which made sense.

Jake voted Dee which made sense.

Julie voted Jake which was different than what Dee wanted.

                    Katurah and Austin voted Julie.

So Katurah could've had Dee voted out if she kept her promise to Jake. And Austin could've had Jake gone if he voted Katurah or Jake.

                      What a crazy finale!

Definitely thought Dee was winning. But the early part of tribal I thought maybe Jake ends up 2nd.

By the end it seemed so close, but I figured they're just showing all Austin votes. Once it got to 3-3 I really thought this was ending in a tie and Jake has to break the tie.

Dee ends up winning and she was the best player of the season. I'd put her close to the level of a Parvati but not quite that high though.

Some interesting revelations at the end. Austin reveals he was an alternate. Jeff later stated Tina was an alternate on Australia which I don't think I ever heard before. I knew about Davie (funny enough, I think he replaced Ciries son Jared), but surprised to hear about Tina. Imagine how different things would've gone then if there was no Tina. Colby wins over Jerri?

                        Re: Survivor 45

Jake's fatal flaw was not telling Katurah he was using the idol for her. When he told Austin he had it and was using it for himself, I immediately figured that was strategy to keep votes off himself and use it to protect Katurah, but this dumbo and his flair for the dramatic wanted to blindside his own ally with the idol at tribal and she freaked out and didn't trust him and flipped her vote in a moment of paranoia

she might've flipped her vote anyway, whether he told her or not, she was not trusting him. The only way she would've really trusted him was if he flat out gave her the idol before tribal so she could use it herself

I did think it was kind of fitting that Jake inadvertently blindsided Katurrah and then beat her in fire considering when she flipped against Kaleb & him it was the beginning of his sinking to the bottom. He was always the easy vote if the main target couldn’t be gotten or snuck after that. Katurrah played herself out of the game at the very end… great game overall.

I was a little disappointed Dee won, but overall her and Austin I had at the top for a good long while early on. I think they faded down the stretch but held together enough at the end to seal the deal. Could’ve gone either way on winner. I think we all thought Jake was going to cast the deciding vote once we hit 3-3 and 4-3, including the cast. Maybe I missed it, but did he say who he would’ve voted for had it come down to him?

Season started off so slowly with the quitters and incidents (even Jake passed out a few times lol… we never got closure on that!) but really came together as they usually do imo. Ended up a strong group overall, wasn’t anyone I was rooting against. Everyone had some type of claim to the title in some way and it depended what the jury valued. Good stuff.

Jake didn't say who he would've voted for (wouldn't be surprised if he has said it since in some post game interview).

He did say at the finale that once he saw the votes he started panicking figuring out who he'd vote for if he has to vote.

An interesting fact about this season, it's the first one of the "new era" that didn't go 7-1-0. And it's the only season besides the Ghost Island tiebreaker to be this close since 2011 (24 seasons). Goes to show how clear so many winners are once they make it to the end.

Figured I'd mention this in the Survivor thread since people here are more likely to care, but supposedly Coach (yes, Coach) will be part of the national anthem at the Bills playoff game.

Got me thinking, We’re in need of another second chance theme. That was the best season IMO because everyone is so locked in, they’ve all made it relatively far in the game before and it’s a dogfight. I’ll have to look back at the last bunch of seasons to see who I’d want to see back. Tough decisions
