with the prices of next gen consoles a lot of people would have to sell their current system and all the games to help pay...I remember that's what I had to do years ago for the first playstation, sold tons of genesis games to help pay for it. Keeping the xbox is an option for me now, but for younger people or those running on a tighter budget it's not a valid option

The only reason I care about BC is because I don't have enough space on my entertainment rack for all this crap.

But if they're selling all their games why do they need it to be backwards compatible?

The only game that I would care about it being backwards compatible for will be NCAA 2006. Do you think they will make the games that are about to be released backwards compatible right away?

That is simply a luxury and not a need. Im sorry. People almost sound whiny about this. You want to play your old games keep the system you have. The rest of us will be gaming in HD and/or playing brand new more powerful titles.

Never have, never will. If I got the sudden urge to play Halo 2, Twisted Metal or Splinter Cell again, I'd just buy another system with the game. By then, the price of a old XBOX should be under 50 and the games should be 3 for 20.

Exactly. TV's/AV Racks have a limited number of inputs. There is no way in hell I'm gonna go back behind my rig fiddling with cables, etc. everytime I want to play an old game if I don't have to. Smart manufacturers cater to people like me.

I don't want to have a PS1, 2, 3 connected , as well as an NES, SNES, N64, GAmecube, if I can just have an all-in-one like Revolution. Just like having an integrated Blu-Ray player is and advantage for PS3 for me.

And maybe it's me, but I play old games pretty frequently(relative to my overall playing time, that is). Last time I had access to my NES I was playing Hoops and Mario 3, then later switched to NBA Live '95 on the Genesis.

If I get this new Revolution, I might be playing the old games more than the new ones!

Ok, I agree it isn't a "big deal", but I don't get your standpoint either. Your volunteering to spend more money and time that you otherwise wouldn't have to if BC was included.

I've gotten rid of my XBox and Gamecube and its games. Say I had kept the games, hoping for backwards compatibility (which manufacturers have proven is possible, and for some, a priority).

Why would you want to spend that extra 50 for an old Xbox, plus sacrifice the space on your rack/inputs, deal with a different controller/accessories, etc?

Even If I didn't keep the games, why not just buy the games 3 for 20 and put them in your new system, instead of buying a another console, another controller?

That's why I think nintendo's revolution has a really good idea. It's hard to even find an NES/SNES now, and even if you can, its a hassle(dealing with ebay, etc.). Who knows how hard it might be to find a functioning Xbox in a few years? Hard drives fail, etc.

Thank You. Time to let go of the past folks, and stop whining about alot of games that were complained about anyhow, especially the sports games

Thats why you hang on to all of your old consoles. I have never sold any of mine and if I had the urge to play a older game, I can just whip out the old console and find/buy the game I want. Its a hassle but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Only time when I did purchase a old system was late last year and that was a N64 and No Mercy. The total price of both, 35 bones with extra controllers and memory pack.

But for ppl like you who like to play older games often, you should never get rid of your consoles. As for older NES/SNES games, here's an idea that a buddy of mine at work did. He took a old PC that he had and he DLed all the emulators and games that he could fit....which in NES and SNES terms, is something like a few thousand. He built a arcade cabinet and placed the old PC in there. *Poof*, just like that, he has all of the games as well as the space without the need to buy extra controllers and hardware to play the games.

I'm not surprised to hear thise about the XBOX 360, but in reality, who plays their old games on their new system? Me, probably a couple, but that's it. Although it sounds nice, is it really a necessity?

On teamxbox.com they have an interview with Allard, and he says he is so confident in the 360 in supplying games that would make you forget about the original Xbox. Much like PS2 did, how many of you actually bought PSOne games to play or your PS2 when the new version was coming out in 3-4 months? Why worry?
