I can't help but noticing alot of things as I read through the threads. Yes, I have been here long enough to know that the majority of OS owns XBOX but with these totally NEW generation consoles coming out, I sense fanboyism.

I am not trying to be rude. But why do people hate the PS3 controller so damn much? It seems like after one person said it looks ugly, everyone looked at it and said "Hey, yeah it does look weird!". They haven't felt the controller or anything. And when you look at it, it ain't nothing different. Just the handles are longer.

I also hear people say that the videos you saw on E3 of Killzone were not actually in-game play. They say they were movies (I'm sorry please forgive me for I don't know the exact abbreviation for a movie you see in a game -_-). Now to me it looks pretty damn clear that they show it in first person mode, and usually when something is in first person mode, then it ain't a movie.

Hmmm... I remember back before we saw all these movies, people said they would hate it if it the new consoles weren't backwards compatible. Now we see XBOX360 won't be BC and now everyone says "oh well, hook up your old console"

It seems people have MADE their decisions ALREADY. XBOX360 doesn't come out til around November (If it isn't delayed), and PS3 doesn't come out til next Spring.

I'm sorry for posting this rant. I'm not a fanboy of any system. I have both PS2 and XBox (got the XBox for Christmas), and I love them both. I like XBox's graphics, I like PS2's exclusives. There is no telling which system I will pick.

Let me stop now. I love this board (it convinced me to get a Xbox), but can we be unbias?


P.S. I'm sorry, I know I won't get any positive posts in this thread but I just want to have legit arguments on subjects like this. Maybe this post will affect somebody out there *shrugs*.

Check out those links. First is Ghost Recon3 for Xbox360, second is Killzone2 for PS3. I figured i would post a video of both games in action. And by the way, Perfect Dark Zero is a cheap shot, we all know that game has poor graphics even if it was on PS3.

Be your own judge people, both consoles are not cheap, so choose wisely. And dont listen to Microsoft or Sony fan boys, each group bashes the other, choose which console suites you, not what others opinions tell you too.

am i the only one who could care less about BC (ps2 player by the way)? not once did i put a ps1 game into my ps2, so i'd much rather the gaming companies put their energy into somthing else.

I'll back you up. I've come to the thought that this forum has a couple camps that fight at any chance they can get.... ESPN fanboys, Madden Fanboys, Microsoft Fanboys, Sony Fanboys........... Ehh this message board isn't really a good representation of the real world anyways, look at the sale numbers for ESPN and XBOX both lower than Madden and PS2 yet most liked ESPN and XBOX here. So yeah I would say there is fanboyism on both sides, it's just there are more XBOX fanboys here than PS fanboys, I'm sure if you go to another site you'll find more PS fanboys than XBOX.... it's basically all about where you go.

I think you see more Xbox owners here because it is a sports website and Xbox has pretty much the same sports games as PS2, but with better graphics, faster loads, Live, and custom soundtracks. More often than not they are going to choose what system fits the games they want to play. So they choose Xbox. I don't see fanboyism in that.

Nothing to do with being a fanboy, at least for me.

I prefered Xbox over PS2 for 2 major reasons:

1. Xbox Live- Sony's online strategy was pathetic. After playing xbox live for the last few years, I can't go back to unstable servers, no friends lists, no voice chat in some games, etc.

2. Games- 99% of the games I play are online fps and sports games. Xbox DOMINATED both.


So far, it doesn't look like Sony is going to do much for online play once again. And since most of my gaming is done online, and most games I buy for online play over anything else, I'm just not interested in it.

I prefered xbox over ps2, and while 360 hasn't blown me away yet, PS3 hasn't shown anything that makes me think I'd enjoy it more.

I own both.

Xbox has taken over almost all of my play because I like their exclusives more, and the cross-platform games look and load better on it. The online capabilities are an added bonus. Early on, the PS2 was king for me due to series like GTA, WE, and Gallop Racer.

Next-gen will be a wait and see for me.

funny thing is, you watch the G4 special, read the previews... You'd think that Sony won, but you ask fans and go on boards people are looking more forward to Xbox360. Yesterday and today when G4 asked fans the first person always said Xbox360, and didn't acknowledge the PS3. Prolly because "Duckies don't move"

This has been addressed a ton of times, but the Killzone video was 100% pre-rendered. The scenes which switched to first person mode were made to look like the game in action, but it wasn't. It was a movie made to look like a video game.

I think partly what is going on is that Sony used a very deceptive and underhanded media campaign when they first came out with the PS2. No one is going to knock them for it- after all, they hyped the PS2 to the point where it became the bestselling console of all time. But there was a huge chasm between what Sony promised the PS2 would be capable of and what it delivered. Yet those promises were enough to sink the Dreamcast, a genuinely revolutionary console with a lot of unique games on it that you'll never see again, because Sony is in the business of providing you with Tekken 17 and Grand Tourismo 21. So gamers who owned a Dreamcast and who bought into the hype and replaced it with a PS2 only to be disappointed are rightly going to look at Sony's duplication of tactics (and they are duplicating their tactics- they might as well have pulled the PS3 press release straight from the 2001 version and just updated the console name) with some skepticism. When Microsoft is having their coming out party and Sony intervenes with the same line that they used before- don't buy that system, wait a year for ours, it will be twice as powerful, then throw out a bunch of movies that purport to be gameplay but are not in the hopes of duping people, it just feels dishonest.

Calling Sony dishonest when dealing with a company like Microsoft is laughable.... You don't remember the PS2 claims?

History does have a way of repeating itslef. I give Sony credit for knowing that there are so many that will follow what they say and wait for their system instead, thinking that they're getting a much more powerful console. It's a marketing tool that they will exploit again.

I got enough usage out of my PS2 over the years, but the fact remains that the E3 claims NEVER lived up to what game developers could do with that console. I still remember the "Toy Story-like graphic claims", and the Tekken footage, which was jaw-dropping. Yet, we're into Tekken 5 now, and it still doesn't look like it did at E3. And I've yet to see any "Toy-Story-like" graphics. Maybe I missed that game?

PS3 will no doubt be a powerful console, but I'm very skeptical as to what the Cell's performance actually will be, and the Nvidia GPU does not seem to be anywhere close to ATI's R520 chip for the 360.

Time will tell.

You don't seem to get it- I could care less about how Microsoft has interacted with other companies in spheres that don't affect me. My comments were strictly based on my console owning experience, from my PS1 to my Dreamcast to my PS2 to my Xbox. What possible relevance does Microsoft's computer dealings have to consoles? None whatsoever. On the other hand, Sony's PS2 media campaign had a very tangible impact on my console gaming between 1999 and 2001. And, having lived through it once, and knowing full well that history has a tendency to repeat itself, I'm trying to not pretend that I happened to be living in outer space during that period and hence am not ready to get sweaty when Sony throws some specs up on a board and makes snide remarks. But what's obvious is that people want to get hot and sweaty- it's the essence of consumerism. They don't want to be critical towards much of anything, and they don't want to be happy with what they have. They want the next new thing because that's what's going to make them happy. It's profoundly sad, but there it is. People in the NCAA board all spout off about what a poor product NCAA 2005 was (and it truly was) and then are awash in an agony of delightful anticipation when thrown 10 seconds worth of game clips from what looks like an identical game. You'll see the same thing on the ESPN NBA board, and likely on every other board as well. Anticipation. Purchase. Disappointment. Resentment. Anticipation. Purchase. Ad infinitum. It's bizarre, the same way this whole console business is bizarre, but I can't say that I don't understand it. For whatever reason, gamers form emotional connections with their console. Who knows why? I know I have. I was reasonably fond of my Sega Genesis. I loved my Playstation. I hated my Nintendo 64. I loved my Dreamcast. I was lukewarm about my Gamecube. I loved my Xbox. I was cold to my PS2. Did I have reasons for those feelings? Sure, and if I gave it enough thought I could tell you why. But on some level I was operating subconsciously, and I'm sure that others are doing the same.

Anyway, that's a long ramble to get the the point that you can blow your comment about pulling things off the Microsoft printer out your ***. If you'd like to show not the slightest bit of introspection about the way you are manipulated by consumer media, that's fine. But don't show off your thoughtlessness and then try to act like you have some revelation about the thoughts of others.
