I played the game last night and had a blast playing. I can't wait for the full version to come out on Tuesday. If you ask me, this game is State of Emergency/Dynasty Warrios on steroids (game moves at a slower speed than those 2, but more fun). I'm impressed with how nice the graphics look and with the way that the framerate holds up with all those zombies on the screen. I think that they really did a good job all around from playing the demo.
I like being able to use all kinds and types of weapons. I was amazed at the sheer amount that is available and also found it neat to refill your energy that you have to go the diners/restaurants in the mall.
So far, I love using the sledgehammer. I really like the physics that they have used here, taking a swing at not one but 3-4 zombies at a time with that thing is just awesome. It will take a bunch out that are swarmed in an area. Same thing goes with weapons like the bench, they can take out multiple zombies. I also liked using the meat cleaver, really sweet. Then weapons have a hidden life meter on them, after being used so much they go away and you see them flashing on the inventory menu.
Also looking at the objectives list that is provided when starting the mission, it's more than just State of Emergency running around rioting and causing mayhem.
I don't know if it's my love for zombie movies, but I'm really digging this game. I just wish I had game design experience or even a part of the industry as I was thinking up new ways of how to make a new zombie game based off of this engine but more story driven. I do feel like this game is going to have a cool story, and man do the cutscenes look beautiful.
If this demo is only about 12-20 stores, I looked at the mall directory and this game looks huge.
I haven't tried yet, but has anyone been able to use the camera yet?
I will say that this game has elements of State of Emergency + Dynasty Warriors 5 (360 version with objective based) with borrowing the atmosphere/enviroment from Dawn of the Dead.
I hope this sells a boatload for Capcom since they will have no choice but to bring RE5 to the 360. I went to 3 different Gamestops over the last 2 weeks, and at each one they had over 50 prepays.
Holic, I would have done the same thing to play this next week.Last edited by CaptainZombie; 08-05-2006, 10:04 AM.Comment

I just wish I didn't listen to those that talked me into it here at OS. I don't want someone else's problem console.Last edited by CaptainZombie; 08-05-2006, 11:46 AM.Comment

Re: Dead Rising Hands-On (Xbox 360)
There are a few references to Resident Evil, that I have noticed in the demo version so far. Maybe Dead Rising is an Umbrella Experiement in a mall environment.
I would sh*t my pants if one of the multiple endings involved Umbrella Corp. LOL!
1. Homage to Resident Evil that was found in the game:
original RE: You play as Jill and go pinch the shotgun off the wallrack (I think) and the ceiling in the entryway to that room begins to descend... If you wait around til it gets quite low, old Barry comes and boots the door in, afterwards quipping "We coulda had a Jill sandwich" or something similar...
REmake: "any longer and we could've fit you into a sandwich"... or something like that.
2. Ashley from RE4.
That girl from the 1st cutscene when you start the demo looks like older version of Ashley from RE 4.Last edited by CaptainZombie; 08-05-2006, 11:55 AM.Comment

Anyway, to use the camera, hold the right trigger, focus, and press X to take a picture. Here is a hint, theres some "erotic" zombies, and if you can get a picture of them, in certain areas of there body, you can get some major points for those pictures.Comment

Originally posted by HolicCooler, and quieter. My last refurb from MS had a cracked casing, and scuff marks on it. So I had a feeling I was doomed when I saw that.
9.5 months in and I'm still with a launch 360, so I hope it continues to run smooth.
If not, I will do exactly what you did Holic. Buy a system at Gamestop w/ warranty and ship mine to MS for a new one and up it goes on ebay.Comment

Capcom is really starting to finally put out some more original IP's, especially taking chances on the 360 with Dead Rising and Lost Planet than more sequels & rehashes. I think that next week Dead Rising sells a boatload which will really help Capcom to decide into fully supporting the 360.
Even though RE5 has been announced for the 360, I have heard rumors that it might be PS3 bound.Comment
