Re: Dead Rising Hands-On (Xbox 360)

There will be NO patch to fix the near, and in some cases just plain, unreadable text on SDTVs:

"Several weeks ago 1UP reported on complaints stemming from Dead Rising players frustrated about the game's small text size (used for issuing missions, dialogue, etc.) The text is readable, albeit tiny, on an HDTV, but the same cannot be said for anyone with a standard definition television (i.e. yours truly). Capcom admitted there was an issue there, said they were looking into it. In the ensuing weeks, we've waited.

And waited. And waited. Finally, we decided to follow-up with Capcom about the issue's status, and the response wasn't encouraging. "Dead Rising was optimized for HD and we offered some suggestions for SD TV owners," said a company representative.

So, the question is, will there ever be a patch? Unfortunately, that's a no. "Due to the amount of text and the size of the patch necessary to change the text, a patch isn't possible for this issue," said the company. "We had asked the team if it was even possible but ... due to the scope of what a patch would need to cover, it wasn't possible."" (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3153521)

Ending A: Talk to Isabella after 12 am and 10 am on the last day then be at the heliport at 12 pm - Unlocks overtime mode

Ending B: Fail any case 'cept for 7-2 and be at the heliport at 12 pm

Ending C: Complete the cases but don't talk to Isabella

Ending D: Fail any case 'cept 7-2 and don't be at the heliport

    Ending F: Fail 7-2

    True Ending: Finish overtime mode.

That's a damn shame, but I guess there is not much SDTV owners can do.

Dead Rising got nominated a lot, its good because it deserved some fame.

WOW, Dead Rising beat zelda for action adventure game of the year, Dead Rising was a great game.

Dead Rising won: best sound effects, use of XBOX achievements, and best action adventure game

Yeah, it deserves any accolades it gets. I'm a little surprised it got best sound effects, because I don't recall being blown away by the sound effects or anything. Also, wasn't a lot of the dialogue subtitles? It's been a while since I played.

The second best 360 game this year right behind Gears of War imo.

              A Million Dead Have Risen
              Dead Rising reaches platinum status.

January 10, 2007 - Capcom's zombie killing game that has nothing to do with George Romero's Dawn of the Dead is a certified smash. The company announced today that worldwide shipments for Dead Rising have topped the million mark. The feat was achieved in time for the close of 2006.

Dead Rising is available in all major territories. Following the 8/8 North American release, it moved over to Europe on 9/8, then ended up in its home territory of Japan on 9/28.

That's great news. Good to see a great game do well. Can't wait for the sequel.

I can't wait for a sequel myself, I can only imagine the things that they can do with this engine if they correct some of the issues.

I bet that it does soon, I can't remember the policy on 360 games going Platinum Hits after selling a certain amount. IMO, this was one of those sleeper hits of 2006.

I never got to finish it, but I wouldn't mind playing through the first three hours again.
