    PS3 to ship without HDD?

Just an article at gamespot. Ironically, they've been on the ball with their articles. Not meaning anything more than their articles hitting those spots that I want to know about. This was one that interested me. Don't know if it was posted but I didn't see it in any other thread. Enjoy the read

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Re: PS3 to ship without HDD?

Well, shut me up. Still, that's quite funny. I'm really wondering about this joint. Would the exclusion of the hard drive prove detrimental to the gameplay? That's what I'm trying to figure out. I wouldn't have a problem but would the PS3 be able to do what the XBOX does with the halftime shows, implementing music into the game and stats and stuff out the box? If it doesn't affect that, I'm liking PS3 more. We'll see though. Cost down is good. If the removal of the different add-ons affects gameplay compared to the 360, then I'm worried that it might discourage....

If you guys know Sony like I know Sony, then the HDD will be an additional add-on accessory cause we all know Sony likes to hold things back for the sake of charging customers extra for accessories.

Well like it said in the gamespot article, not having the hard drive wouldn't allow developers to count on the people having it so they would make the games with the assumption that not a lot of people will have one so it wouldn't make sense for them to include it in their plans. If they decide not to have the hard drive standard it would be a really stupid decision, just like with the ps2 hard drive.

Re: PS3 to ship without HDD?

I'm extremely pissed cause I bought a hard drive for the PS2 not knowing that it would be a bust. It is the most useless piece of hardware I've ever bought. I got it the day it came out. Know what I could have done with that money? Put a down payment on an XBOX 360. That's cool though. Well, I'm not really looking at the PS3 anymore cause of that little thing. I was feeling the need to work hard and get a hustle on. Guess I'll just make enough to get by....with my 360. Just horrible. At least they sound like they stepped up their online capabilities....

I knew that something like that was going to happen with the hard drive. It just came way too late for it to be of any use and there was little or no hype for it(pretty surprising coming from sony).

No HDD on PS3 will kill it.

Would it make you feel better if I said I wasted the 100 bones on picking a HDD up also? Man...what a crock. Sony basically helped thereselves to my pockets because they got me with the HDD. Come to find out that no one is making games utilizing it. I dont think I've ever felt so gyped. Then I poneyed up the money for they're crap-tacular online capabilities. I feel so used. And lets not forget about the keyboard and headset.........

What online capabilities? I sure missed that one. If you're talking about the headset, I got a cheap one at the store. Could talk to friends online and send "voice messages" to them instead of typing which was pretty cool. Don't use it that much anymore though. As for the keyboard, I wasn't smart enough to get one when it came out so I waited and just got my first "keyboard" about 4 weeks ago. It's a PS2 compatible controller with a keyboard in the middle. That thing is huge, but I want to see what it'll play like with the PS2 before it dies. Should have sold that crap back. Yeah, Sony has some of the smartest people. One of the reasons I wanted the HD was because I wanted to try out Final Fantasy 11. Ironically, it was online only and I wasn't entertained with giving them more money. Turned me off. For those wondering why I had a grudge against that company, that's it all right there. A bunch of useless nothings for money.

LMAO, thats the exact same reason I got a grudge with Sony. Actually it stems from the PS1 when they made me buy cables, memory cards, a multi-tap and 3 extra controllers that I had to update to analog controllers and after all that, I eventually had to get the PS1 to work by using a simple ink pen to hold the disc tray closed.

For PS2, it was memory cards, multi-tap, 3 more extra controllers(even though the F'in PS1 analog controllers were the exact same, they just were'nt compatible with some games) Network adapter, Keyboard, headset, HDD and the last 4 things I rarely even use. In fact, the network adapter, keyboard and headset has'nt been used since last July. I sold the FFXI package(30 dollar loss) and the rest collects dust. And after all of that, I gotta sit my PS2 on the vertical side to get it to work. Gee...thanks Sony.

Dang, I forgot about the network adapter. Horrible online prevents me from playing. And we have one of those PS1 analog controllers. Funny cause I remember a lot of my friends talking about it not working with any games. Ironically, I feel sorry for you cause you were a strong supporter. It's almost sad man....
