They'll take your money in store, but they are now telling you that they can't guarantee it before the holidays. So my trip to EB today just got cancelled.

When I called Circuit City, they said they could get as few as 10 in their first shipment. Can't see BestBuy being much better, so Walmart is now at the top of my list. They'll be getting them in Tuesday the 22nd in the morning, so hopefully they'll last till lunch being a business day. I'll drop in on Monday night after work and try to time it so that a friend of mine can hopefully help me out the next day making a call or two and getting down there before I can. Naturally, a promise to play Madden 360 with me that afternoon should be enough. The problem is....I really want it now, and after Christmas just wouldn't be worth it if I can't have it for vacation time. Still looking for more ideas/chances.

went in to my gamestop yesterday to put some more money down....

guy said we have 122 preorders at the store, and MS has gauranteed all 122 will be filled november 22.
my guy said its gonna be a madhouse at midnight, and they have already asked for several police men in store to keep things under control

I can't believe your store is getting that many preorders, I live in Baltimore a major city and 2 different stores I have spoke to have not topped 40. What major city do you live in that tops Baltimore?

He lives in the huge college town of Auburn, AL. There is only 1 gamestop and 1 eb, so there is bound to be a ton of pre orders at both stores.

Even though I'd have to work the next day, I'm wondering if I can hit a nearby 24-7 Walmart on Monday night?? Their website says they'll get them at 12 noon on Tuesday the 22nd, but it'd be cool to get the jump if I could. Is anyone going to a midnight release?

I feel like if you don't get a 360 on the first shipment, that 2nd shipment (and possibly last one till '06) is going to be impossible with the holidays approaching. So the goal is to score one Tuesday at or before lunch...otherwise, I'll have to get creative and find a store like Strawberries that will hold it for me while everyone is attacking the Toys R' Us down the street. It's going to come down to execution...

I preordered one from Ritz, and as my mom's paying for it as my birthday gift(and a little bit of x-mas money) she said we can go hunting at midnight to the walmart/target near my house, and she'll search during the day....I'm getting one as soon as possible.

except the 360 comes out on november 22nd, so ill be home for thanksgiving break.

my gamestop is just the one in my hometown of Trussville, AL.

but the manager has personally gauranteed there will be 122 units at that store on midnight.

he said that stores that dont sell preorders will be getting very few units, because MS wants to make sure they get consoles to the people who WANT them and made the effort to preorder them

That's what makes me nervous about my chances, even in the case of a bigger Walmart... Should be interesting, but that's why I'm trying to brainstorm & plan ahead.

I just got "REWARD ZONE" from Best Buy... what do I do from there??? I need more info for the Best Buy Preordering people!

I don't think Best Buy does pre-orders. It's first come, first serve.

I called them about that since I'm a member of the useless club and they basically said certain members were pre-selected based on their purchases as candidates to preorder the XBox 360. Have I heard of or met someone who got an offer from BestBuy based on their own criteria....no. But regardless, if you haven't heard from them yet, chances are that you won't have the opportunity to preorder through BestBuy. From what I asked and the answer that was given, it doesn't apply to you unless they tell you otherwise, and the time has already past. Hope I'm wrong, but that's what I heard.

Yeah thats what they said... but they said that the Reward Zone members will get their reserved copies, that they have to pick up in a certain time.

I'm not really sure to be honest. What I don't plan on doing is relying on BestBuy or Circuit City, because all reports point to them having the largest crowds for the fewest consoles.

Yeah, I wish I preordered, but I really had no interest until I had the money to waste and now I'm completely sold! So basically, the weekend before launch, I'm going to start making calls again, find a 24 hr. Walmart or Target, and see if I can find one Monday night. If that doesn't work, I hope to bribe enough of my friends to help me find it. If I don't have it by Tuesday night, I'm looking at the smaller stores, like Strawberries, Sam Goody, even Toys R' Us although that's a bit more obvious. And if I can't find it by Wednesday, I have a feeling we'll be looking at January '06. But that's why this thread is helpful...to see what other idiots like myself are doing that haven't preordered it but need to have it! I'd love to have the guarantee, but if you're smart and put in the effort looking and calling, I feel like it's more than possible barring shipment delays or absolute riots which I doubt. Just my two cents. I'm cautiously optimistic though...
