But Sony has an exclusivity agreement with Rockstar Games which produces the GTA series and that alone is enough to make me buy a PS3 over an XBox.

You guys don't want your gaming console to act as a washing machine and/or space heater when you're not playing it? Weird.
I thought the exclusive agreement with Rockstar had ended with the last San Andreas too but I might be wrong. Even so, Xbox folks will be able to get Rockstar games so long as they don't mind waiting a few extra months. There's not much of a reason to want a PS3 over a 360 or vice versa except for a couple of very select games like the Halos, Tekkens, and Gran Turismos.Comment

Whats the game for the 360 from the original developer of GTA? The title has slipped my mind.

All of you saying you only want a gaming console- that's all well and good. I agree is some regards. But the market is much, much bigger than you. No company is going to proclaim "next gen" as a strictly gaming console with so much anticipation already.
I remember when people were bitching their heads off about the current gen systems being able to play DVDs & CDs. I just want the next gen consoles to be able to maximize their capabilities. If that means a crystal clear movie can play on it, so be it.
Some people are simply never satisfied.Comment

Originally posted by bigeastbumrushSame here. I can afford both of them but I simply do not want 2 systems. I'll be able to play 360 anytime I want pretty much when it launches without having to buy it. So I figure, play it, see what it's capable of and then next year when both consoles are on the market, buy one then. If I go with the 360 & it's cheaper next year than it is now, it's a plus.

I think most people that can afford an XBOX 360 or PS3 can afford a DVD player and probably anything else that these consoles will offer. I want a gaming machine, I already have about 4 DVD players, and 4 CD players, I have a DVR, and surround system. Give me a machine that plays online games, whatever that includes, and only games. I don't want anything pre loaded unless it's a game that I have chosen.NFL: Tennessee Titans

I agree with that. I am interested in a gaming system that focuses primarly on games. In my observations, it seems that is what many people want too. I am not too excited about playing dvd's and such. I think I have used my system to play one DVD.My School's National Championships:

And some people like that their system can play DVD's. I had a Playstation 2 before I had a DVD player and I certainly liked it for that. I also used either that or Xbox for DVD's when in college. If you don't care about it playing DVD's, then fine, don't play DVD's on it. It makes no sense to bitch about it since it being there isn't hurting you. I personally like to get the most out of my home appliances so if it can do more things and make for one less mass of tangled wires out of my home entertainment system the better, as that thing is crowded.Comment

Re: Xbox 360 "Half the Price of PS3" by Late 2006
The GTA deal is already over. So expect GTA to hit both systems around the same time, and anybody who thinks 360 will be half the cost of the PS3 by the end of 2006 is nuts. That won't happen. Maybe the Core unit, but I seriously doubt that.Comment
