I'll have to find that thread. I can't wait till sports games incorporate the camera.

Interview with EA about it: http://sports.ign.com/articles/737/737237p1.html

and if you need a bigger hint to not actually buy any of this:

"IGN Sports: Aren't you worried about a backlash from gamers who used to get alternate uniforms for free, but now you want to nickel and dime us for every throwback?

      Chip Lange: Yes."

"IGN Sports: I read how your strategy for Tiger Woods includes the ability to buy new courses. Does that mean you're holding courses back intentionally from consumer who buy the game in order to force them to purchase courses separately and spend more money?

Chip Lange: The Tiger team is taking a creative approach to it. You can either unlock or buy the courses, depending on your gaming preference."

Great article wich seems to be in response to that and in general response to such comments as just don't buy it and it's a choice: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/737/737177p1.html

So who would pay the "galactic toll fares" in Mass Effect?

If this trend continues I may have to find a new hobby. As others in the Madden forum have pointed out this can be insult to injury when a sub-par game begins to charge for more content that used to be free. Oblivion is a great example of this when they charged gamers for friggin horse armor.

I think this may be the turning point where developers do as much damage to the industry as hackers. Hopefully, people wont fall for this and it will go away. I mean it's not like people get suckered by EA year after year...right? ANyone? Anyone?

Re: Xbox Live Marketplace and Live Arcade Discussion

This has been discussed to death in the Madden forum, let's keep it there and keep this thread clean of it. To end it, it's simple as with everything on the Marketplace, either buy it, or don't. No one is forcing anyone to buy anything.

Now back on topic please. Thanks

Thanks for the articles Goh. Both very good reads giving insight into a future I'm not too excited about. I'm a relatively patient guy, and I'm hoping that many of these items will become free in the future to extend the life cycle of the games. I have no problem buying "premium" content, but I'm very worried about annual titles like sports games or sequal releases like Splinter Cell or GTA reaching a cap of things they can charge for, and moving into creatively removing features that they can later charge for on the back end. I think this stadium and alternate uniforms situation in Madden is a great example, but what worries me most is for games like Elder Scrolls 5 being 9/10 the size of Oblivion, but being able to purchase that extra 1/10 after the fact.
