Re: Xbox Live Marketplace and Live Arcade Discussion
From the podcast...
As far as I know we don't have plans to bring those kinds of games on Xbox Live Arcade. What you have to think about is um, the size of some of those games? And how you're going to be able to distribute those digitally? You think about something like Joust or Robotron or things like that, that are the emulation crowd if you will? Those guys, those games are easy to distribute. They're small, you can download them in a minute or two directly to your console. Some of the games that were in that generation like on N64, those games are pretty large and are still gonna be pretty hard to distribute digitally depending on the title. I think even if you look at what Nintendo's planning to do in this space, some of the stuff they're planning to bring, its 8 and 16 bit games, its not 32 and 64 bit games. So yeah, we're excited to have Rare as a developer, their IP, having them bring a lot of those assets into next generation games, I think its gonna be great. Having Perfect Dark Zero. We thought Kameo ended up being sort of a surprise hit of the Xbox 360 launch, its definately something - we're excited to have them on board - and they're gonna be bringing a lot more titles as well.
And some of those may make their way to Arcade, but we don't have a big strategy around bringing a bunch of those games to it in particular.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

And I dunno how it would translate into size for the 360, but the Goldeneye rom, playable in zipped form is only 16 megs, so if they want to do it they could easily.Comment

i was JUST about to comment on the size of n64 games... 16 mb's is no more than a regular 360 trailer if that. N64 games are do-able as far as size is concerned, it's all a matter of getting it emulated on the xbox360 well... and the cost of it.http://www.myspace.com/phillthegenesis
