New Xbox Arcade Info Leaked
Microsoft can run, but they can't hide the new games coming to the Marketplace.

July 11, 2006 - This morning Gamasutra reported on an accidently leaked press release regarding tonight's Xbox Live Arcade event in San Francisco. Gamasutra pulled the article at Microsoft's request, but not before Slashdot snatched it up. Now, the information has become unstoppable.

According to the press release Microsoft is planning a weekly dose of arcade content called Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays. It begins tomorrow, July 12, with the classic arcade amphibian escape title, Frogger. Next week subscribers will be treated to a title called Cloning Clyde on July 19. Then gamers are granted to a return of well-loved classics with Galaga on July 26, Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting on August 2nd, and finally Pac-Man on August 9.

Even the older title's graphics and audio have been updated to perform on today's high-tech systems.

IGN contacted a rep from Microsoft to confirm this who responded with: "The Xbox Live team is hosting an Xbox Live Gold Experience Event in San Francisco tonight to kick off a summer of Xbox Live Arcade - full details of our forthcoming summer schedule and availability have not been announced yet but will be revealed soon, so stay tuned for more info."

Yeah, no duh.

Lucky for you, IGN is attending the Xbox Live Arcade event tonight and we'll be sure to report back on more information as it becomes available (or is leaked).

New expansion this week. Vampirism cure included.

July 11, 2006 - The world of Cyrodiil has mutated yet again, spawning another expansion area to add to Bethesda's already massive The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. This marks the sixth piece of extra content available to players since the title originally released back in March 2006. Titled The Vile Lair, the new expansion is currently scheduled to release this Thursday, July 13 for PC for $1.89 via the official Oblivion download site When asked, Bethesda commented the Xbox 360 version should be up on the Marketplace at the same time.

This time players will receive a new safe house where a number of important actions can be performed. Chiefly, the download description states something called The Font of Renewal will be there, where players can cure themselves of vampirism. If this is true, it'd certainly be a huge upgrade from the painfully long quest previously required. If players enjoy their vampiritic state, there'll also be something called a cattle pen in the den on which to feed. A few other upgrades include a Dark Minion who the player can use to find gold and The Shrine of Sithis which can heal and cure diseases.

A few screens of the nefarious hideout have been loaded below. If you value the blood pumping through your veins, you'll check them out.

Features:
- A multilevel lair for murderous players to find refuge
- The Font of Renewal, where a player may purge himself of Vampirism
- The Shrine of Sithis where the infamous player may heal and be cured of disease
- A Dark Minion, who the player may employ to find gold in a most unseemly manner
- A 'cattle pen' for vampires to dine
- An indoor garden of venomous plants, including the notorious Chokeberry to feed to your enemy
- Various furnishing upgrades, including a study room and storage area
