Gamestop has made my 360 decision for me.

I had been wrestling with keeping or cancelling my pre-order. There hadn't been any particular title that jumped out at me but I was still gonna get the system.

Then I started seeing review after reveiw stating that if you didn't have an HDTV the games would look like a current Xbox. Well I don't have an HDTV and won't be able to get one for a few months.

Way back when I made my preorder I thought I would be able to get Oblivion, Ghost Recon 3, and that Madden was gonna just blow me away. Slowly the launch day picture changed for me.

So I told myself I'd head up to Gamestop this weekend and play the Kiosk. If it was cool I'd keep my pre-order. Well then the phone rang.

I will NOT be getting a launch 360. But I will get it by Christmas. Now I'm just gonna cancel it all together and preorder Choops for the old Xbox.

Once I get my HDTV I'll get the 360 and catch up to the television elite. I want to experience it to the fullest anyway. I look forward to hearing how you guys like it once you get it. Enjoy!

I'm in that SAME boat. Sure the graphics are going to be crisper all around, but if you want to see what the Next-gen is all about, you need a HDTV. And me being a poor college student, that isn't going to happen for a while.

    Plus, I'll be waiting PS3.

    Thanks,

I do not have a HDTV. However, I am banking on how this thing is going to look on a 19" PC Monitor. For an extra $40 for a VGA cable, if I get all the graphic goodness of 720p on my monitor, then I will be happy.

We shall see next week, I will be interested on screenshots on how different games look on HDTV than a monitor using the VGA cable. HDTV will probably have more vibrant colors, but the resolution and sharpness should be the same.

I dont get this major fascination with HDTVs. If I was getting a 360 this year, I would'nt let the lack of a HDTV get to me. Sure, it may looks a lil downgraded on a regular tv but you will still get the WOW factor from the graphics IMHO.

Anyway, I already planned on grabbing a 360 come tax time, looks like I may invest in a HDTV as well if my gf spits the bill on it. If not, then it would'nt discourage me from getting one.

the thing Gamestop is doing though: if you want to get a cash refund back, you must have the receipt, if not you get store credit (i dont understand this because if everything is entered into the computer, they should have it regardless)... i wanted to cancell mine about a week ago & they could not do it then (forgot the reason, but it was strange)..

You can pick up an awesome 32 inch Samsung HDTV for like $700 now. I have one in my basement and it is very good. I also have a Sony 40 inch hdtv in my family room. The Sony is better, but also like a 400 pound gorilla! But I love it...well worth the investment.

exactly! you don't have to have HDTV to see the difference but if you have a 1990 crap tube tv, you may not see much of a difference.

I feel the same way and if you have plans to get a Hi def TV in the future way wait to get a 360 unless of course its a money issue

There is no way I could let my wife let me play a video game on our HDTV. I have to play video games in the basement, but I also have 3 regular TVs down there. 1 for video games and 2 for sportrs shows. Nothing better than watching 2 basketball games while playing College Hoops or watching two football games while playing NCAA football. I don't think she'll let me buy 3 new HDTVs for he basement.....

Unfortunately, I won't be getting the 360 either. I hope to get it by next Christmas. Its more that I can't see spending the dough on it. Yeah, she controls alot of things, but I find myself getting stingy in my old age, plus I want to see what the PS3 has to offer.

I know where you're coming from however. The way I see it is if I do happen to get an HDTV, my gf will do nothing but own the living room where the DVR is right now so I would barely have the HDTV to mayself anyhow. She tapes so many damn shows that whenever she does'nt have a show on, she has a show on the harddrive she could watch. Its like a endless cycle. This would get even worse if HDTV was in the mix.

Come to think about it, now I have no reason to get one. I game in seperate rooms myself. Ethier in my PC room or downstairs in her brothers apartment.
