Originally posted by asianflowI'm going to flip the question, shouldn't all the Average Joes feel guilty they are buying 360's?
After all, they could take the money they have for the 360 and instead give it to the Red Cross to help the hurricane victims. People are selfish when they choose to buy a videogame system instead of helping people in need.
And making assumputions about people lives that you don't even know is better? How do you know that the "Average Joe" hasn't donated food, money, or their time to help those victims? It's easy to be a armchair QB and assume people don't care.President of the Devils Den

I'll address longshadow and PDiiddy:
I don't think there's anything wrong with people buying 360. I'm just pointing out with that money, you could choose to give it to the Red Cross instead. If you look at it from that angle, we all make selfish decisions. For example I donate to various charities but I know I could even donate more but I would rather go on vacations, buy videogames, buy movies, etc... I make the decision to spend selfishly on myself over helping the less fortunate sometimes. And I'm sure every person living above the povertly line also does the same thing. We usually look out for ourselves first and there's nothing wrong with that. It's a fact of life.
As for the whole celeb getting 360 issue while some gamers will get stiffed, I see both sides. It's proven celebs have an impact on certain products. I'm not sure what kind of impact they have on videogames but I do know celebs drive fashion trends. Case in point is Ashton Kutcher wearing a Trucker Hat on Jay Leno and then the next thing you know, wearing a Trucker Hat is trendy for some people. Also if you're a major celeb, you don't even have to buy your own clothes since designers will be knocking down your door hoping they will wear their stuff and promote the brand. Microsoft has to believe celebs have some sort of impact in driving sales/making the 360 hip or else they wouldn't give it away.
I also understand the frustration of gamers that won't get it on Tuesday. After all you could argue the 360 that Paris Hilton has could have been mine. But Average Joes don't have a broad appeal like celebs do. There's virtually zero chance a pic of a Average Joe picking up 360 will be in US Weekly where as the same couldn't be said for Paris Hilton. And besides Microsoft already knows gamers that are interested in the 360 aren't going to lose interest just because there might be a shortage in the first week/month of launch. Sure they may be frustrated initially, but they're eventually going to pay for the 360 anyways.Comment

LOL take a marketing class or two and you will understand. Microsoft cares less about you individually they are a company to make money, and to enhance that money they will promote their *** off using celebrity's commercials, word of mouth, hype all that jazz. Realize if it wasnt for their marketing principles microsoft wouldnt even have money to build a 360 much less you buy it.
As for donating money to katrina you guys do realize there was another hurricane, i donated and helped when katrina rolled through then rita hit my hometown DIRECTLY, so ya 360 is farthest from my mind right now.
So in short, enjoy your 360 when you DO GET IT, till then dont hate innocent celebrities or write hatemail to Microsoft.Comment
