It actually sounds like some kind of spring inside is making that noise.

I was told that its a ball bearing that allows the system to detect when the system is either horizontal or vertical, that way the ring on the front of the system always shows player one in the correct part of the ring.

Mine made some little noises when I was moving it around, too. I bet it's the fan. It sounds a lot more heavy duty than the PS2's fan. I'd chalk up the overheating to overplaying; it's natural for when people first get the thing and play it non stop. If I had the time, I would too, but take a break and read a book ... probably the 360 manual!

Yep your right. Just did some more research and thats what it is.

And about the overplaying most people that have overheating problems they theirs only was on for 5-10 minutes.

Ive come to the conclusion that its just a fact of the system right now, in terms of the heating of the system that is, and I will stick it out and if the system goes out on me I can return it since I purchased the extended warranty anyways.

Seen mine is opposite. The power supply is not warm at all while my 360 is. Approximately how many inches apart is the back of your X Box to the wall?

How many processors is this thing running? It's going to run a bit warm. Maybe another fan should've been included.
