The real deal on how Microsoft is going to fix and return your system.

I been having problem with my xbox 360. I get message after a hour or more of playing my 2 games (Nba 2k6 & Madden 06), saying on the screen "disc error". I have notice that this only happens when the back of my system is really hot. I just got off the phone with 1800-4my-xbox and I told them everything that is wrong. They are going to send me a box monday to return the system and I will have it back in three days. I mentioned to the customer service rep about the 3-4 weeks turnaround going around the internet and she said that is not true, that is only for the orgional xbox. She said Microsoft want the systems fix asoon as possilbe. She didn't say excatly why, but she hinted in a way b/c Microsoft want's people to be happy and the people waiting to get a 360 won't be to worried. You can return your 360 for a new one at the store you bought it from if your store is lucky enough to have any left.

Here are some steps xbox rep gave me .

    1. I described the problem

    2. She is sending out a return package box, where you only have to return the system and nothing else (no cords, memory cards, controllers etc..)

    3. Give me a number to keep track of my package.

    4. Get my return package on monday, pack it up and send it back. M.S pays for the overnight shipping both ways.

    5. Wait three days to get my 360 back. You can keep up on your status of the system with the tracking number by, calling the 1-800 number.

    6. get my system back thursday and hope everything works out fine.

I agree! Nice of them to pay overnight shipping both ways also. Did they mention if they are going to fix your 360 or ship you back a new one?

Good luck by the way and hope your back gaming by the end of the week!

i would definately tell them i want a brand new one, if not i would wait till the place you bought it from gets some new ones then do an exchange, you should have 30 days to do a full exchange.

They will only fix the one you bought. The only way they will give you a new 360 is if they can't fix it. I read in the warranty slip inside the package of the 360 that if you send it back 3 times they will give you a new one.

I could return it to best buy and get a new one, but they don't have any left. Good thing about best buy warranty is that if you have a problem they will give a new one and send your broken one back to M.S.

How long will Microsoft fix your system for free(without having the $59 extended warranty? 30 days? 90 days?

Most high-end electronics have a 90 day warranty. I know the PS2 does, and I think the Xbox does too but I'm not sure.

Did they try to troubleshoot it over the phone? Just curious, they said their techs would try to help you over the phone but I have to no clue when they can make you other than move it to a cooler area.

Malfunctioning issues was one of the main reasons I held off in getting one on launch day. I think I will wait until after the New Year to pick one up.

                            probably 90 days.

Edit: the card says 10 days to send it in. However, i'm sure if you send it in along with your check oR MO, they won't send it back to you.
