    Re: Nintendo DS?

As much as I love the DS and the games I have, I am not feeling Animal Crossing.

It is too kiddish for me after a few days play. And there is simply NOTHING to do! The town is like a shoe box and you do the same thing over and over again. I guess it's just the beginning of the game, so hopefully it does expand and things start to happen. If so, I'll be the first to admit I was wrong. But for now... meh.

Maybe some of the reader reviews will help you appreciate (if that's possible) the game.

I've read some, but they seem to enjoy constantly walking on the (2 foot long) beach and collecting the same shells over and over again

I do like the game, but it's like a 7.5 or 8 quality, not some brilliant thing most will say it is.

            Re: Nintendo DS?

Mario 64 DS is great. The game is slightly changed and remixed from the original N64 version and even has better 3d models for the characters. Plus the mini games you can unlock and play on their own, are good enough to be sold as their own game. Very fun and addictive.

            Nintendogs is repetitive but great.

I like puzzle games, so I enjoy Zoo and Mr Driller too.

I am looking at video's and reviews of Tony Hawk and Metroid Pinball and am thinking about both of them.

I want Castlevania more than anything but it's sold out everywhere since day 1 here. Might have to import it.

Looking forward to Metroid, Final Fantasy (which looks great!), the new Mario platformer, Mario 3 on 3 basketball (made by Square and looks cool) and the new unseen Zelda DS.

            Oh and Nintencats

That game sounds interesting. I might have to pick up a DS myself.

Played Animal Crossing more... don't get it. Why is it fun to live in the smallest virtual town in gaming history? Why is it fun to planet flowers, water them and see them grow in 1 day? Terribly basic (one button) fishing, searching for items, decorating your home... ehhh wish I hadn't spent money on this now.

It sounds like you are close to dropping it below 7.5 or 8.

Game has its own charm, kinda like the sims. I enjoyed it for brief periods playing it on the GC. My wife loved it. Now that its on a portable, i can see myself being able to screw around with it every once in a blue moon while my wife makes it her second hobby; though i do wish you could still unlock some of the old nintendo games like in the original.

But it is a love or hate type game. There is no middle ground for it. Definitely a niche game.

I personally think it's way too small and to be very harsh (as anyone at OS knows I can be), I can't see how they can warrent this to be a full priced game. It's just so small and empty. Oh well, I know my partner will love it so that's one redeeming point. Maybe I'm just too old for it.

Usually on train to work, sometimes during lunch at work.
                          Even when watching tv.
But lately I have a quick game lying in bed before I go to sleep.

Although the shape and weight of the DS isn't perfect for lying on your back and holding it. I hope they refine it to be smaller and lighter again soon.

Got a DS for Christmas. It's cool, only thing is it has 4 dead pixels (2 on each screen). Can't really notice 'em during gameplay... might try to exchange it, though.

Call Nintendo ASAP they have a "NO DEAD OR STUCK PIXEL" policy for the life of the unit. Unlike Fony/Sony who tries to convince us that dead/stuck pixels are part of the LCD technology.

They will send you a new one. You'll probably have to pay shipping to get it there.

I have had a DS since launch and it is really starting to hit its stride. The wife got me 4 DS games for Christmas and they are all top notch (Mario Kart DS, Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time, Castlevania, and Metroid Pinball). I have also had a PSP since launch and while it is technically impressive it is just not very fun. The more I play my DS the closer my PSP gets to being sold.
