Oh I blame them too. Sending all those units to Japan. Knowing without DOA4 and some dumb RPG. They wouldn't buy it. I bet if it came with Dance Dance Revolution they would have bought it.

Naw, them ******s took pre-orders for a system they had no clue about. It's like buying a wedding dress for your son's wife while you're in high school. Just plain pointless if you don't have a solid bit of information to back up the action. EB probably didn't take 50+ pre-orders and stuff like that. They didn't go out on a limb and look as stupid with "unofficial" information. They took the sensible route and probably made significantly less pre-orders which should have been the wisest thing to do in the long run. Of course, common sense seems far from the basis for this type of industry sometimes.......

So am I. I pre-ordered at Gamestop in late June. I was initially 37 on the list, my Gamestop has allegedly gotten 14 so far (their reps can't even agree on how many they've gotten - idiots).

I wouldn't say Gamestop is at fault for taking so many pre-orders (well, they partly are). But in response to that they can say that MS told them to take pre-orders, and they did - it's not their fault MS hasn't provided them with the consoles. The thing that absolutely kills me is that they've still been selling 360s both alone and in bundles at Gamestop.com!!! They last had some available on Tuesday or Wednesday. Unbelievable - you haven't filled 1000's of pre-orders, but when you get consoles you sell them first-come first-serve online. This is what I would go yell at your Gamestop reps about. I'm sure that there are plenty of legal technicalities that mean this technically isn't fraud....but, I mean, c'mon - it's ridiculous. When you take pre-orders as a company, that should mean that when you get consoles in, you give them to the people who pre-ordered.

I am hoping to find to get lucky and find a 360 elsewhere within the next week, after which Gamestop will never get my money again. If I can't, though, some people at Gamestop customer service will be hearing for me. I know I won't get any material results from that, but it might make me feel a little bit better to take a few people's ears off - they certainly have earned it.

Yes, I'm aware that that's the technical explanation that you'll get, along with "our stock is entirely seperate." But c'mon - no one's going to convince me that that's not a bunch of bs. Gamestop B&M and Gamestop online have something to do with each other, right? Unless they literally are two different companies in every (and I mean every) sense, and literally the only thing they have in common is the name "Gamestop," there is no excuse for this behavior on their part - it's just terrible business. It is a nice little way for them to increase their profits by taking pre-orders which they don't fill and selling first-come first-serve at the same time, isn't it?

I couldn't agree more. I told the manager of my local GameStop that my 360 would be the last purchase I'd ever make at a GS store and he replied, "Well, I don't blame you. I think GameStop is going to lose a lot of customers over this launch." He also seemed a little ticked that bundles were available on GS' Web site even though stores such as his hadn't received enough units to fill most of their pre-orders.

What is B&N? In any case, if you can buy stock under one symbol, and that symbol covers both Gamestop stores and Gamestop.com, then my reasoning still stands.

wow.. i love B & N but hate Gamestop.. while to me i can wait for the system , I really feel bad for the people who preordered early & still havent gotten the system.. my friend is still waiting for his- already paid off, preordered in May from EB.. the worst thing? he missed by 3 people from getting one on launch.. i find it also unnacceptable that those that preordered later online are getting them sooner over those that did it in store - blame goes to both Microsoft & the store companies themselves.. it's all about greed.. my friend keeps getting the same answers - "it'll be here in a week or so", "soon", etc... i have already stopped purchasing from the conglomerate known as EBstop...

Same situation here. A buddy of mine preordered his right after the 360 show on MTV and paid it all off and hasn't gotten his yet. I had one preordered at EBGames and cancelled it when I found out how far down the list I was and once I found out about the shortages. I camped out at Target and got one launch day and the people were really cool about it there, so I've just been buying games at Target (and most everything else since then too). If it's a big game that I know Target won't get till 3 to 4 days after EB and GS, then I'll go get one there, but I'm done preordering anything at either of those stores.
