this guy knows what he's talking about the 360 is just a beast it has 3 processors to do different things to run great and look great it's just incredible you got dual cores coming out now and the 360 already has 3 running at 3.2 its riduclous

Again - this depends on how you define "stronger".
The PS3 will likely have more raw "power", but the two systems will be more akin to having an Enzo Ferrari and a Lamborghini Gallardo - you can't max either of them out on the highway, so it hardly matters which one has slightly more horsepower.

What's more useful is how quickly you can get it up to highway speeds, and by that measure, it's entirely possible that the Xbox 360 may be slightly superior.

I'd highly recommend ArsTechnica as a good and unbiased resource if anyone's interested in system and chip architecture. It's critical to an informed view on these kinds of comparisons.

Basically, the systems are damned near identical in effective "power" - enough so that it will be all but impossible for consumers to tell the difference.

How they're utilized by developers will be the key - not the systems themselves.

Re: ATI Says PS3 Is 'Unrefined'

I think it's hard to judge the 360 power right now.

I just hope that the games really were rushed because when you hear from the devs that Perfect Dark used one core simply for the physics and Condemned and COD used seperate cores for the A.I. alone, you have to be worried where the rest of the power went.

COD looks 'pretty good' but nothing mind blowing or redefining.
Condemned looks nice (similar to FEAR on PC) yet has a pretty bad frame rate and some low poly models.
Perfect Dark is just bad overall.
            I won't even mention EA's 360 junk...

Then I read that Gears of War (which excluding the future Halo 3, seems to be the only thing that will prove the 360's power and really kick it into next gen) is using all 3 cores and as much power as possible yet they are aiming for 30 fps. That's worrying. To me anyway.

Oh and on the whole Killzone 2 thing... it's no different to EA's CG they threw out for the 360 video's, claiming they were real and (NBA Live's first, 'fake' video at least) being playable. In fact, much of the 360 footage at E3 was CG/cutscenes.

But, all of that aside, if the PS3 does launch with Killzone 2 looking the same as that video, then the 360 is in deep trouble.

Re: ATI Says PS3 Is 'Unrefined'

you don't have to look far to find a source telling you how the ps3 is superior to the 360 and you don't have to look far for a source telling you how the 360 is stronger than the ps3.

It will all depend as someone stated before on how developers use the system. If the developers don't use it properly than it doesn't matter how much raw power either system has.

We all have our preferences and for me honestly its the ps3. I can only buy one system so I am waiting for the ps3. I like the library of games it has and have been playing since the psone. Nothing against microsoft because I do have an xbox and once I have to money for a 360, I suspect that I'll pick one up. But for now I am saving up for the PS3.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Where do you get your information from? The reason why the 360 had such a poor showing at e3 was because they showed old demos of the games and people actually thought that that's what every game would look like. Launch games are never indicative of the future of a system.

It's been said in other places too. I'll try to find a link but I know that I've seen this comment from other people.

It also didn't help that Sony showed videos claiming they were running on PS3 hardware when in fact they weren't.

Of course the games were rushed, their launch titles. Also, just because devs say their using a core for physics, a seperate core for AI, or even using all 6 threads, it doesn't mean their using them effeciently, and you will automatically have amazing physics or AI. Geometry Wars uses all 3 cores.

Give devs a chance to wrap their heads around the hardware. Most have to learn to write multi-threaded code. Only a few devs know how, and even less know how to do it effeciently. Devs also have to learn how to tap into Xenos (360 GPU), as it is something devs have never seen before.

Gears of War doesn't have to be 60fps, it is a slow cover twitch shooter. Cliffy B said he expects to go well over 30fps, but when they do, they will just throw more effects in. Mark Rein also said during the Zero Hour event they will double the framerate, and that build was running at 25-30fps.

Killzone 2 is for the PS2, and the Killzone video Sony showed at E3 is coming to a theater near you.

LOL, I actually wouldn't mind watching a Killzone movie if its the same type of stuff done at E3. Probably better than the Final Fantasy movie anyways.

Yes. It's extremely disappointing when companies pull that garbage.
It was an out-and-out deception, and it's a shame that Sony was actually rewarded for doing so.

That doesn't bode well for consumers - it just means that we'll have to all but ignore every bit of info pre-release until somebody actually gets their hands on it.

yeah who knows what will be the better. I did like the screen shot MLB 2k6 for the 360 they had. That was sweet!
