Finally getting my 360 this week.
I am now #3 at EB for pre-orderd 360 and should be receiving it early this week. Is there anyway to know if I get handed one with issues by the serial number or something? Such as the overheating crap thing thats goin on. Also do you guys recommend I go buy seperate DVD player or should I just use the 360?

The issues aren't nearly as severe as people make you think. -

I heard last night from a friend, that his friend had his melt on him. He said he played it for 8 hours and the processor melted. Does that sound right or is this a lie? He also said the guy left it in the little cubbie hole of his entertainment center.

Re: Finally getting my 360 this week.
That's BS. The processor can't melt. The 360 doesn't get hot enough to melt metal regardless of whether it's in a tight area with no ventilation or a wide open area with a lot of ventilation. I can't recall the temperature that causes metal to melt, but the 360 doesn't even come close.
People are just making things up for some dumb reason.
I can assure anyone that if someone tells you that their 360 melted in any way, they're full of it.
EDIT - Personally I'd use a seperate DVD player. Not that the 360 DVD player is bad, but that I think a seperate player will have more features.Comment

I've never heard of a processor melting before.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

But I wouldn't put the console into a little cubbie or small confined area. I would sit it out in a well ventilated open area so that it doesn't overheat itself.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
