    Re: 2006 Consumer Electronics Show

If Sony is going to release the PS3 in the Spring......May 2006 as speculated, they have no choice but to unveil the system at CES to build up on the hype. If they don't, the only other thing they could do is hold an event like MS did with the 360 on MTV within a month or so for unveilment.

I have a feeling if we don't see the system at CES, I expect a Fall 2006 release.

I wouldn't expect to see anything until E3.

Yes, E3 is in May. I don't see how ps3 is coming out in May at this point. If Sony was planning to unveil a bunch of info at this year's CES, a good deal of that likely would have been leaked out by now.

The only way it comes out in May is if Sony believes that they don't need to launch a full scale assault marketing campaign for it and can just rest on their laurels. Otherwise, I would bet on the big hubbub to occur at E3 and the console coming out this Fall. Of course, they are the market leader and can theoretically announce it at any time and the hype will begin, but I just still can't see it being ready in 4-5 months.

No way PS3 is coming this spring. We would already be seeing a large amount of hype for it and EB/Gamestop would already be taking preorders.

October or November will be the time, IMO.

Last time, they didn't release ANYTHING except some technical info until the Playstation party thingy in February (there's one every year in February) and launched the console March 4.

They don't need to open their mouthes now. For one, people that loved Playstation are going to stay with Playstation. Second, if they released info earlier, people will be quick to compare and buy right then before it even comes out. They don't want that. If PS3 hell better than 360, then yeah, they'd go ahead and say it now.

Correction: They launched in Japan in March not in the US. They launched in Nov. in the states.

true, but if they go with the worldwide shipment then everything is coming along just fine
