My XBOX and XBOX360 Thoughts!

I remember on 11/21, I went to Best Buy in Ford City, IL at 11:00 am, #50 in line waiting to get an XBOX360. I spent 13.5 hours from waiting in line to the time I bought my system at 12:30 am on 11/22. I have enjoyed the system for the most part.

On 11/21, my XBOX sells on ebay for $153.00 with no games, just 2 extra controllers and HD Pack. I made a killing. As the time goes on, with BC being cruddy at this point on the 360 I was thinking to myself I still have a load of titles on the shelf waiting to be played that I can't play. 2 weeks ago, I decided to go purchase another XBOX, a refurbished one for the new games that are coming out MVP06, WI9, Black, Arena Football, Driver, Bully, NFL Head Coach + a backlog of titles that I still want to pickup.

Fast Forward to yesterday, I couldn't believe last night when I was playing MVP NCAA06. I was so happy and enjoying MVP06, I was thinking to myself I could have waited a bit longer on buying the 360 since there are still many xbox games coming out + ones I still want to play. This is what I get for being IMPATIENT.

It is such a shame that the XBOX was never allowed to realize it's full potential. I think the Xbox could have gone another 1 to 1 1/2 more years before a next gen system. I guess 2006 is the final year that the system will push itself as far as it could. I'm glad to have both the xbox and the 360, I guess I should have never sold my xbox to begin with in the first place.

Yeah the xbox does have a bunch of great games still to come. I think it was more of a case of microsoft wanting to be the first to launch a next gen console to try and beat everyone out to launch. It would have helped their cause if they actually had enough consoles for the demand.

You are correct Pratt. I feel that they did this just to beat Sony and Nintendo to the dance. Us the gamers end up paying for the mistakes that the gaming industry makes.

The 360 out early but I'm very happy to be able to have it and play both systems. Right now we are getting the best of the xbox and the early stages of the 360, its great.

I kinda feel the same way about the 360 so far.

I just bought a 360 this past monday when I had off from work. I was excited to see that the xbox 360 inventory tracker work! So I went down to my Best Buy and spent $399 on the platinum package.

Fast forward to Saturday. The item is still in the box, unopened. Right now, I really have no use for it. I have all the current sports games on my XBOX. Should I really go out and spend $59.95 for some improved graphics on games that I already own? $99.95 for a wireless adaptor? Please tell me that this will come down in the future. MS's not allowing 3rd parties to produce any of this stuff is a real downer. I don't know how we're going to get rosters for NCAA this year. We might all be playing on the XBOX for NCAA again this year, just myself speaking, but I'd rather play a dumed down graphical version with real names that #49 and souped up graphics and "real stadiums"

Don't get me wrong, I think the 360 is going to be great, but I still think that we won't really be happy with our purchases until a few more months down the road. MS really wasn't prepared with this launch, and it shows.

We are getting the best of both worlds here. I guess I can enjoy the XBOX while I wait for more 360 games to come out.

Completely agree.

There's not a huge surplus of games out right now, but pretty much every game out is playable and entertaining.

I have had an opposite experience with my 360 and XBOX. I bought the 360 on launch and I own COD 2, PGR, and PDZ. I finished COD2 a few weeks ago and wanted to go back to BIA EIBlood to finish my campaign that was interrupted by my 360 purchase. I could not play more than 5 minutes before totally losing interest. I am not a graphics whore, but without some kind of nostalgic hold (I still play my NES up to Fuzion Frenzy and such), I could not get back into it after experiencing what the 360 has to offer. Then, yesterday I bought MVP 2006. Though it is a great game, the game seemed so blurry I could not believe it. I just cannot get into it either. I would rather just play the Fight Night demo over and over again until it comes out. I am not knocking the XBOX, but without a memory/nostalgic value to an XBOX game (MOH's, Halo 2, Fuzion Frenzy, Chessmaster to name a few), I just do not see myself being able to get into a future XBOX game unless it is absolutely unbelievable. IMO.

I think what MS needs to do is step up to the plate with this BC crap, and make all these games for the Xbox BC... Kinda sucks that all of these releases for the 360 are getting pushed back 2 and three months out.... I have been wanting GR:AW for some time now.. and I still have almost 2 months to wait for it... College Hoops 2k6 was supposed to come back a long this month, but now we hear late Feb early March which sucks...
