People used to come in and recite the old "it should surface in the first 90 days" myth all the time when I worked at Best Buy. The fact of the matter is this. It's electronics. They know no rules. They don't know if it's been 90 or 900 days since the original purchase, some electronic devices are predisposed to malfunctioning at random points in time.

With that said, I purchased the 2 year service contract from MS and I gladly handed over the $50.00 for it. Peice of mind is worth that money.

According to the warranty service that I'm filling out right now, check or money order = $59.90, cc=$49.90 for 2 yrs.
