the hype is actually generated because of the success of the previous games that Irrational developed. Might not be your type of game, but there are many who have been waiting for this type of game for a long time.

How it's generated isn't of any concern to me. It's that people buy into it - like I said, I refuse to ever do so.

As for GOTY, I take that to mean nothing. That's just other people's opinions on what they liked. Hell, didn't Spike's show name Oblivion the best game of last year? I thought Oblivion sucked, especially compared to the far superior Morrowind.

Timmay, different strokes for different folks. The hype piqued my interest and after playing the demo I am eagerly anticipating this game. That's the "pros" of a demo being released.

You've made it crystal clear that the game isn't for you, great, but you seem angry that others feel it has the potential to one of the best games ever. If you're immune to the hype factor, why be put off by the fact that others aren't?

Well opinions will differ. But the the majority of those who were looking forward to oblivion enjoyed it. Such will be the case will bioshock. Because you thought it sucked means very little when so many enjoyed it. Thats not to say you are wrong for not liking, but you have to temper you not liking a game versus it actually being a good game. Again, you may not like it or think it sucks, but that doesnt mean its a bad game. Just not your type of game.

As i said, the hype is there because of past success and because of the demo. The game is as polished as they have said it was going to be and have shown. I am hyped simply because its exactly what i expected from what i consider a top developer in the industry. I do the same with the bioware crew, blizzard, red isle studios, and a few others.

Will there be people caught up in the hype because of everyone else? sure, happens all the time, but they have no one to blame but themselves if they end up not enjoying it.

And i agree with you; i thought morrowind was a better game than oblivion. that didnt stop me from not having a blast with oblivion though.

Angry? I'm having a conversation. Sorry if that's somehow offending you. I didn't realize having a conversation about a game you don't like wasn't allowed.

I think the problem was you came off quite harsh with your thoughts on the game and it might have rubbed people the wrong way. No harm done, but remember; the game is not to your liking. That's fine, but dont bash a game or just come with the tired "it sucks and is boring" without a bit of analysis as to why.

The other possible option is to simply not post in a thread which does not cater to your interests. I stress again that i am not knocking you for your opinion, but try to at least respect the fact that others will enjoy the game for what it is.

..but why are you still here? I understand you wanted to give your 2 cents, but now it seems pointless. Are you trying to convince others the game sucks? Do you feel like you are missing out on something and are trying to convince yourself it doesn't suck? It seems kind of pointless by now.

I played this game (demo) a bit more last night, and I was blown away by gameplay and the graphics were just WOW! factor.

I hate STEAM.

It's a good concept, but it sucks in practice when you change computers. Tried to DL CSS and HL2, saw the wait time, and haven't played them in almost 2 years because of it.

you can make copies of the games if you have blank cd's on the original pc you downloaded it onto.
