Getting a High Def Picture with my 360 on my new HDTV?
I just picked up a HDTV last week. I mainly picked it up for my 360 that I had gotten back in November. The TV I got was a Toshiba Theater Wide 26'' HD-Ready Flat Tube TV with HDMI Inputs. Now, from what I read on some of the boards and posts I was told to take the HD switch that came with my 360 and move the notch from standard TV to HDTV. That I did..... I was also told to switch the wires from the way I had it before( I purchased a Phillips 4in 1 adapter--I had the red-white-yellow wires going into the adapter) now I was told to take out those wires and put in the blue-green-red combo.(that came with the 360 system-it's got 2 groups of 3 wires each) Well, I have a humming sound now, and my picture is off center of my screen, and I lost color in my TV monitor. So, any suggestions would help?

If it's messing up the picture, switch back to the Red-White-Yellow.

Try the 360 straight into the TV, the adapter you got doesn't sound like it supports HD signals, meaning, you are sending something through it that it can't handle therefore giving you the humming sound.Originally posted by goopaluchieComment

I switched back the wires to the way they were. I got everything back the way it was before. I was'nt able to access the dashboard while the HDTV switch was on. The system wouldn't recognize the difference. Then when I switched back to standard TV. I went into the dashboard to where I could switch my monitor from 3 different listings. When I went to choose any of these it went back to the TV station I was on and then it said that it couldn't recognize HDTV. A stumper??Comment

What do you mean? Just use the other 2 cables(blue-green)in the video slots in the back of the TV. And leave the red one non-connected.Originally posted by fishepaComment

Nevermind, I was thinking about something else. I'm using the VGA cable, so I'm going by my terrible memory. Just match up the colors on the TV with the cables on the xbox adapter. Then you should be fine after you enable 720p or 1080i in the dashboard.Originally posted by goopaluchieComment

I did what you said to do. And I was able to access the dashboard to change my settings. In the back of my TV I have to choices to pick from HD TV Stream1 AND HDTV Stream2. I put the blu-green cables into the HDTV Stream1 and got a picture but no sound. Should I plug the red wire in too? If that doesn't work do I have to move my stereo wires from the Phillips 4 in 1 box into my TV so I will have Surround Sound during gameplay?Originally posted by fishepaComment

You should have "audio in" on the back of your TV. Plug the audio right and left (red & white) cables into the back of your TV. You should then have stereo sound.Comment

The Cord that came with the 360...
It has 5 plugs.
Video = Green, Red, Blue
Audio = White & Red
In your case on your TV you HD Stream 1 and HD stream 2.
Plug in the video cables to their correct color. to HD Stream 1.
Then plug in the Audio to their correct color. to HD Stream 1.
Both should be in the same area hopefully.
Most TVs now a days have an Audio Out area on the back of the TV. Don't put it there. Make sure that the Audio In is in the same strip as were you are plugging in your Video Cables or at least the Audio In says it's for the right one... in your case. HD Stream 1.
Make sure you aren't putting the red audio cord into the red video plug and vice versa.
If you have a surround sound setup, like a reciver, etc, then you'll need to use one of those fire wire plugs too hook up between the 360 plug (that says HD/TV) and your reciever so you can get the surround sound or 5.1.
