If you have a surround sound setup, like a reciver, etc, then you'll need to use one of those fire wire plugs too hook up to your reciever so you can get the surround sound or 5.1.

Great post, although I think you mean optical cable, not firewire.

You should have "audio in" on the back of your TV. Plug the audio right and left (red & white) cables into the back of your TV. You should then have stereo sound.

I plugged in the red wire from before. I then took out the 3 red-yellow-white wires from the Phillips 4 in 1 adapter. I plugged those wires in 3 different spots on the back of the TV and still no sound? Except from the rumble from when they first got connected.

You should have audio in jacks that correspond to the HDTV inputs. For example, HDTV Stream 1 you have the other plugs in, you should have an audio in 1, which you would want to use. If you plugged in the component cables into HDTV Stream 2 you would want to use audio in 2.

Thanks guys for all trying to help... But, here we go with something else I don't have money for.

1) 360 with 3 games a wired controller, plug-n-play charge kit and a one year warranty. Total------$723.70


2) HDTV Total-------$700.00


3) Cables and Devices to hook up system( Now, I'm not able to use ANY of it now. Total-------$150.00

Microsoft said "GAMER'S GET IN THE GAME" You need to buy everything!!!!!
Total------$1,573.70

I don't have money for that cable, Microsoft has got enough off of me!

Can you get a me a link to the TV you bought?
What i'll do is go to the manufacture's page and look at a picture of it and then try to explain it from there... if that would help?

Truth be told, right now, I'm not even using my 5.1 reciever on my 360. I know that sounds nuts, but I'm just happy with the 2.0 feed since I tend to keep things quiet in my room at night. My housemates don't care much for the noise from my guitars, keyboards, singing, and video games.

I'm not sure why he's not getting any sound, if he connected the RGB in Input 1, then connect the Red & White right under the RGB. If he's done this everything should be working fine. Video in HD & Sound coming from the TV..

I just picked up a HDTV last week. I mainly picked it up for my 360 that I had gotten back in November. The TV I got was a Toshiba Theater Wide 26'' HD-Ready Flat Tube TV with HDMI Inputs. Now, from what I read on some of the boards and posts I was told to take the HD switch that came with my 360 and move the notch from standard TV to HDTV. That I did..... I was also told to switch the wires from the way I had it before( I purchased a Phillips 4in 1 adapter--I had the red-white-yellow wires going into the adapter) now I was told to take out those wires and put in the blue-green-red combo.(that came with the 360 system-it's got 2 groups of 3 wires each) Well, I have a humming sound now, and my picture is off center of my screen, and I lost color in my TV monitor. So, any suggestions would help?

You probally confused the red audio cable with the red component cable..

I did what you said to do. And I was able to access the dashboard to change my settings. In the back of my TV I have to choices to pick from HD TV Stream1 AND HDTV Stream2. I put the blu-green cables into the HDTV Stream1 and got a picture but no sound. Should I plug the red wire in too? If that doesn't work do I have to move my stereo wires from the Phillips 4 in 1 box into my TV so I will have Surround Sound during gameplay?

Sigh..The HD Stream 1 & 2 are color coded.. Just match them with the 360 cables.. Theres no sound cause you didn't plug in the Red/white audio cables into stream 1..the 360 cables.. 3 are for video (component) two are for audio (red & white cable) Do othing with the yellow cable, its composite & will give you the worst picture possible..

What extra cables are you talking about..You already have all you need, minus a optical cable for 5.1 digital sound..Your reciver should support 5.1 digital.. & I don't get why you are using a phillips 4-1 adaptor..It's not necessary. You are making this harder then it is..

This seems like the appropriate thread to ask this question. I have a Sanyo Vizon (HT27745), a cable box (comcast), and a Sony (STR-K66OP) receiver.

Is there anyway that I can hook the receiver directly to the TV and get a digital audio signal? I can get the digital signal from the Xbox to the receiver but I'm not able to get any sound when it's hooked directly to the TV as the digital audio output option is unavailable. If anyone can help it's greatly appreciated.

what do you mean the digital output option is unavailable???? Do you mean in the tv menu ??? That tv has a digital out jack. You need a digital optical cable going from the TV (Digital Out Jack) to the Receiver (Digital Input or Digital IN). Have you done that ??? YOu probably have to go into the menu of the receiver and turn the digital cable on.

Yes. The tv menu option for digital sound is greyed out. I have the digital optical cable going from the TV (digital out jack) to the receiver (digital input). The only way I'm able to get surround sound is when I have the optical cable connected from the receiver directly to the 360.

The menu won't be grayed out when you are viewing a digital channel (High Definition). So you need to put the channel on an High Definiton channel then go to the menu.....If you don't have any HD channels then you can'd really do anything then.
