    Metal Gear 3 Substinence

How many are excited for MGS3: Subsistence? I for one can't wait and I hope this week at CES we will see more of MGS4.

    • Fully rotational 3D camera:
For the first time ever, the Metal Gear series will do away with the conventional top-down camera in favor of a fully free-roaming third-person camera system. Instead of using the old-school system, the new moveable camera will allow players to get a longer range of view.
    • Extra Snake vs. Monkey stages:
Subsistence will contain more Snake vs. Monkey missions. Once again, snake will be pitted up against the monkeys of the Ape Escape games. They'll be runnign rampant in more locations from MGS3 and must all be captured before the time runs out.
    • 2 original MSX games:
Both MSX versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 will be included. This is not the bogus Snake's Revenge that was made in America, but the true sequel that was once the domain of importers. History buffs and retro gamers rejoice.
    • Duel Mode!:
This mode of gameplay lets Snake relive all of the boss encounters from Snake Eater. It can be further broken down into two styles. Normal Duel Mode is an exact recreation of those original encounters, while a "tweaked" Duel mode allows gamers to alter a variety of unspecificed options and fiddle with the gameplay in general.
    • Additional camouflage:
Facepaints that were available in other versions will now be available in America. Want to get the Union Jack stuck onto Snake's mug? It's right here.
    • Online mode:
Subsistence will also allow for players to participate in online matches separated into two distinct modes. Kojima said that the team is hoping to have at least eight players able to play against each other. The first mode is a Team Battle where two groups can fight against each other. The second mode is called "Snake Vs. Enemies." This mode pits snake and other players against computer controlled enemies in "cat and mouse" gameplay.

The online mode of play will allow players to use all the techniques available to them in the regular game. this includes using the guns and grenades as usual. The CQC techniques are also available for sneaking up on an opponent and quickly taking them out. When asked about how the Snake Vs. Enemies mode will play out, Kojima mentioned that the Camo Index will play an important role, but refused to share any more details.
    • Extra Secrets and Goodies!:
Players of Subsistence will be able to access a Secret Theater in which there will be all of the movies that have been spreading across the internet from Konami's own Japanese web site. The different movies are all parodies of the storyline in MGS3 where absolutely nothing is sacred and plenty of work is put in in the name of a good joke.

There will also be a Demo Theater mode that will allow players to go back and view any of the cutscenes from within the regular game itself. From Snake's first encounter with Eva to his meetings with The Boss to any other scene, it will all be in here.

Yeah, still hype for this game

I never played Twin Snakes. Damn, I've never heard of that one. Does it have the same story as the rest of the series?

It's Metal Gear Solid but with the new graphics. It was Cube only.

If Resident Evil 4 never came out for the PS2, I probably would have bought the Cube for those two games. Subsistence is going to be sick.

Twin Snakes is a remake of Metal Gear Solid from the psone. It's a shame this was never done for the PS2 where the game originally came out for on playstation.

Yeah, but the Metal Gear series roots is to Nintendo. That was a gift to the Gamecube.

Yes, even further than Nintendo..............MSX. I played Metal Gear 1 & Snakes Revenge on NES. I was referring to MGS originally being on psone.

I thought the original was much too boring and based on that review this wouldn't be much better.
