Re: Take A Look At Different Drives Which May be Causing 360 Problem

i have a hitachi drive... but the only time my 360 freezes (which is very seldom) is when i'm online... it froze twice yesterday while i was playin co op with some of the OS fellas (sorry zeke lol)

and it froze another long time ago while i was trying to play nba 2k6 online...

come to think of it, those are the only 3 times it froze.

    Peace.

oh... i have a launch system btw

Launch system and Hitachi drive and have had no problems as of yet either, all games play perfectly, including ESPN College Hoops.

The only thing i'll confirm about the Hitachi drive is that certain games i.e. FNR3, PG3, Burnout Revenge run a little loud on my drive. Can't compare it to the Toshiba drive cause I don't have it.

If anyone can compare having both drives, if one drive is louder then the other, let us know. This is probably intended for those who've had their system replaced and are using a different drive or those who have two 360's.

All I know is that I have a Hitachi drive; my Xbox 360 has never once frozen, and it runs all but silently with every game I've put in there (which is nearly every game that's bee released for the 360).

So, take that for what it's worth.

I'm kind of curious about this as well.

I have a Hitachi drive and it hasn't frozed once, but it does seem a little loud at times. FNR3 is one game I thought was loud. I haven't played COD2 in a while, but I don't recall it being as loud.

I'd be interested to know if the Hitachi drive is louder than the Samsung-Toshiba one.

The one thing I don't like is the loud DVD drive (when playing a game.) of the Xbox 360.

Why in the hell did they put two different drives into the machine... wouldn't it have been easier to give every system the same drive? I mean they had problems with this on the first one why would they do it again?

Supply and demand bro. If you need as many dvd drives as both suppliers can possibly make to get as many 360's out the door as fast aa you can you go with 2 suppliers. Hence we have Toshiba and Hitachi drives. When demand settles down i'm sure Microsoft will pick the better of the two or a whole new supplier.

I have the Hitachi drive, zero freezes or problems since launch.

                          *knocks on wood*

Mine is kinda loud when playing 360 games, otherwise it's quiet.

Very True. They probably needed more drives for the systems to be completed and sent out.
