Think we're going to have a situation like with the fatty PS2 consoles where they getting worn out after a couple years and basically need to be replaced?Originally posted by candyman56Next gen games are pushing the hardware.Comment

I wouldn't doubt it until MS starts making the 360 with much more efficiency and parts get cheaper.Originally posted by ComfortablyLombThink we're going to have a situation like with the fatty PS2 consoles where they getting worn out after a couple years and basically need to be replaced?Comment

i saw the supply and demand reply but MS is also using two different companies to make the 360s. might be up to them what drives to use.Fight On for ol' SCOur men Fight On to victory.

Re: Take A Look At Different Drives Which May be Causing 360 Problem
My freaking drive is the Hitachi and freaking FNR3 runs a little rough around the edges. I'm trying to figure out why it's playing louder now. It use to whistle, now the joint yells all through the room. I'm scared cause I didn't get any warranty. Have these neighbor that comes over playing it. I might have to start charging or something cause it's doing too much for me.Originally posted by RodsterThe only thing i'll confirm about the Hitachi drive is that certain games i.e. FNR3, PG3, Burnout Revenge run a little loud on my drive. Can't compare it to the Toshiba drive cause I don't have it.
If anyone can compare having both drives, if one drive is louder then the other, let us know. This is probably intended for those who've had their system replaced and are using a different drive or those who have two 360's.Comment

Re: Take A Look At Different Drives Which May be Causing 360 Problem
I had this problem when I first bought my 360. I had the thing vertical and it sounded like a jet taking off. I tried different disks and they were all loud. So I shut off the machine and flipped it sideways and that cured the problem for me.Originally posted by luv_mistMy freaking drive is the Hitachi and freaking FNR3 runs a little rough around the edges. I also remember on my computer certain PC software would do this as well. You could try using warm water and a clean soft cloth and wipe and dry the cd and see if that helps.Comment

I'm going to get this too, I want my system to stay cool.Originally posted by greenegtI think I'll pick up the intercooler, as well. I haven't had any problems with my 360, but it can't hurt to keep it cooler.Comment

Re: Take A Look At Different Drives Which May be Causing 360 Problem
If you decide to place the system horizontal then try what I did. Go to Office Depot or Wally World and buy yourself a 4-6 pack of erasers. Place one on each corner of your 360. Pay attention not to cover any holes on the bottom. You just lifted your 360 for maximum airflow and cushioned it against vibration.Originally posted by ThaGenecysti'm gonna bite the bullet and sit my 360 horizontally
If you purchased a 6 pack of erasers then take the last two and put one on each corner of your power supply brick. I stacked 2 erasers on each corner of my 360 and power brick and the machine only gets warm cause it has good airflow.
