The idea of countering is strong in the entertainment industry. I believe this trend is now very strong in the gaming field and will continue to grow. Any other ideas/projections on the MS response?

How do you think MS will counteract the release of the PS3?
There has been a lot of speculation about what effect giving a one year lead to MS will have on the industry. It seems to me like MS will need something strong to counteract the release of the PS3 this November and help grow the Xbox foothold. I imagine that Halo 3 would be the star on top of the Xmas tree this year, but it seems like there are quite a few things that MS could do. Gears of War could be a very strong holiday title if Halo isn't ready. I also can see a $50 price drop for the holidays. If the PS3 is $100 - $150 more then the 360 and they are about even on games....well then MS could have a strong holiday showing. I also wonder if Nintendo will become the Ralph Nader of this battle and take some dollars away from Sony as well.

I may be an optimist, but I think Halo 3 by itself will be enough. People are going to go nuts. -
Re: How do you think MS will counteract the release of the PS3?
The Psp is outselling the 360 right now so MS better do something for the launch of the Ps3. The ps3 console will be amazing and continue were the ps2 has left off no doubt. So many quality First party and third party games its ridiculousComment

Handhelds are a different beast and comparing the 2 isn't very fair.
A $100-250 portable machines vs a $400-500 box that hooks to your TV.
Where's the similarity? The only thing is that they both play games.BeyondMediaOnline.comComment

Originally posted by DXZekeTrue, but the Gameboy SP and Dual Screen outsold anything else on the market as well... PSP, PS2, XBox, 360, etc....

Re: How do you think MS will counteract the release of the PS3?
The XBOX 360 will likely dominate in the Fall and Microsoft does not have to do anything. At best Sony will have no more than 1 to 2 million through December and the supply of XBOX 360 will be much more. This could be Sony's last console because according to Merrill Lynch, Sony is going to lose almost 2 billion in the first three years and may not even be profitable the fourth year.Comment

Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment
